Kwame Brown at Center?

Post#1 » by MrMorrow » Sun Oct 23, 2011 2:33 am

If we can't acquire Nene, Dalembert, or DeAndre Jordan in free agency, do you all think we should make a run for Kwame Brown? Can we sign him for 1.5 million per year for two years?

Yes we should.

Even if we do get one of the 3 guys you mentioned, I'd still try to get Kwame. Let him and Joel battle it out for backup C in case Pittman isn't ready (Which is probably the case).

Imagine a front-line rotation something like:
C: Dalembert/Kwame/Joel/Pittman
PF: Bosh/Haslem/Joel

Very good IMO.

Edit:
While Kwame is a huge bust, unfortunately last season he wasn't that bad. I think other teams may also be interested in him as a C off the bench. Hopefully not.

Are you kidding me with that post ^

lmao.. I would rather resurrection shawn bradley with one leg.

Kwame has never and will never be anything more then a toss around player to fill rosters.

Having him on the floor will hurt a team more then anything.

Kwame is actually a pretty decent low post defender and would be good C depth.

Exactly ^.

And no, I'm not kidding. I know Screamin A. Smith ranting about him is hilarious but he's not bad as a back-up C. Joel is not that much better than him.

Kwame dropped 23 points (10-15 shooting), and 13 rebounds on us last season.

Joel Anthony 10-11:
19.5 MPG
2 PPG
1.2 BPG
3.6 RPG

Kwame Brown 10-11:
26 MPG
7.9 PPG
.6 BPG
6.8 RPG

Joel is a better shot blocker, and he's quicker which enables him to defend the pick and roll rather well. Kwame is a much bigger body, better scorer, and rebounder.

It's not like there are a ton of options. Off the top of my head there's Jeff Foster. Then you have Eddy Curry (LOL), Magloire (LOL) , Dampier (LOL), Pittman (Probably not ready), etc

Kwame will get more than the vet min.

Why not one of the amnesty cuts like (Haywood), or if they make rookie restricted free agents, into unrestricted free agents (Marc G).?

PS
I would rather have K Thomas over Kwame all day.

I'm honestly not that fussed on Brown - I'd be a little worried if he was our primary C, but if he & Joel are battling for the back-up minutes, then I think it's a good arrangement.

As for the amnesty cuts, or previously restricted FAs (assuming RFA goes away); Gasol is a dream, DeAndre Jordan should be our target, we talk to Haywood, but end up with Oden.

why would pittman still not be ready?

If he isnt ready yet, we're never going to use him.

The guy only played in 1 game last season. I just feel like this organization has a tendency to not play young players when veteran options are there. Of course there are exceptions.

I've always been one of the bigger Pittman supporters (Almost got suspended trying to defend him once lol), so I'd love to be wrong.

FWIW, it looks like he has kept himself in good shape during the lockout according to his pictures on twitter.

It's not Kwame's fault that Jordan took him with the 1st pick. If he would have gone 15th, no one would rag on the guy. I'd take him.
