Re: Arsenal FC
Yeah, he would have. Doesn't matter if we get Hazard, but longer we leave it the greater the chance one of the sugar daddy clubs offer more money than we can afford.
Can't find the cup game on tv anywhere today, still a few hours to go though.

Re: Arsenal FC
Haven't seen the goals yet but good to hear Park got on the scoresheet. If he can find some success with the first team it will really fill a hole.
The wide forward positions are up for grabs imo with Gervinho not (yet) commanding an automatic start, Ryo and Ox coming through, and if Arshavin and/or Walcott were let go of I wouldn't blink.

The most beautiful finish by an Arsenal player in a while.

He's doing alright. Had a rough first few games, but has been getting better. Looked good against Stoke, but they weren't much of a threat offensively. I still say Gibbs is first choice, if he can ever stay healthy.

Universal wisdom seems to be vermaelen in, djourou out, kos to right back. I agree but not as enthusiastically as most, truth be told. Familiarity counts for a lot in defense.

Re: Arsenal FC
DJ is the weak link to me of our CB's right now, nor is he suited to play out right. Kos is the best for it out of our CB's, he's the fastest, and decent on the ball, high work rate, and aggressive. TV can play on the left, but he's far too one-footed to play out right. It's far from an ideal situation, but it's the best I can see. It's a shame to move Kos because he's been in such good form lately, but he's the best fit.
I can't see TV being left out of the XI, he's one of our best players, and must be on the pitch for a big game if available.
EDIT: If it wasn't for the budding partnership Kos and Mert have been forming, and Kos' form at CB, I would have said to play DJ at CB and Kos out right before, anyway.

Koscielny Man of the Match. Szcz, song, arteta, ramsey, theo and robin were good, dj and santos were terrible.

Re: Arsenal FC
that was so much fun to watch. this is the first time i've felt like our passing was on the same planet as it was last year.
i'm not quite as down on santos, if arsene is telling him to get forward that much, i like how he does it.

Santos is really good going forward. I think a lot of his defensive issues have to do with his fitness. Needs to get in better shape.

Re: Arsenal FC
So, first choice CB pairing has to be Kos and TV now. Kos has been immense these past few weeks, and has totally earned his place over Mertesacker.
Ramsey looking better every game now. Really becoming the hub of our offense, and directing play from midfield. Can't wait for Wilshere to come back, watching them together is going to be a lot of fun.

How does Mertesacker do anyway?
Has he already begun making terrible positional errors?

As a Fenerbahce fan, I watched Santos quite a lot. I always thought he is a much better fit as a ML than as a DL. He was pretty good when he was playing with Roberto Carlos behind him, but once he left, he had to play LB and neither his physique nor his mentality is a good fit to play as LB. He is extremely creative but can be somewhat careless with the ball. He tries flamboyant passes and dribbles quite often. When your left midfielder does that and loses the ball, then your defense can recover easily. When your left back loses the ball, they cant.

He was never going to get MotM vs Torres, Mata and Sturridge, we just didn't have anyone else. Positionally he's ok but if he makes a mistake he's stuffed because he's so slow. He'll be great vs stoke etc just not chelsea etc.

Re: Arsenal FC
Agreed. I watched kos and mert during the chelsea game, they're really similar in the way they play, intercepting and anticipating their opponents moves. Koscielny in particular will be a superb pairing with TV I reckon because of kos' anticipation and TV's aggression.IronChef wrote:So, first choice CB pairing has to be Kos and TV now. Song, Jack and Aaron should be awesome, but i'm still hoping Wenger blows my mind and makes it M'Vila, Jack and Aaron. And yes, i know how you feel about Francis CoqRamsey looking better every game now. Really becoming the hub of our offense, and directing play from midfield. Can't wait for Wilshere to come back, watching them together is going to be a lot of fun.
