THE ULTIMATE HIIT WORKOUT
From Mark Merchant, co-owner, As One Fitness, New York: guaranteed to kick your ass — and quickly. Do each exercise for 30 seconds at full throttle. Then take a ten-second rest.

1. Squats
2. Push-ups
3. Planks
4. Burpees
5. Split squats
6. Bent-over rows
7. Supine hip extensions
8. Burpees.

Total workout time: Five minutes. If repeated four times (as suggested): 20 minutes.

Gonna try it tomorrow morning before work.

This actually looks pretty awesome. I am also going to try this.

I played basketball for about the first time in four months two days ago. My hamstrings still feel like they are going to explode, so I have to postpone it for a few days.

I am guessing this is going to destroy me. But an intense 20 minute workout is more of my style than some 60 minute crazyness.

Most mass gainers are whey plus some form of carb, the other stuff they talk advertise don't matter, supplements are big business. Whey protein+carbs+fancy key words on the tub=jacked up prices.

The one you posted had 18 servings, 36 if you take half servings as you suggested. Buy the whey in bulk and you can get 80 servings for ~$30.

http://www.smartpowders.com/p-8061-whey-protein-5lb-vanilla-ice-cream.aspx

Add this for the carbs:

http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/viewitem.asp?idproduct=164994&pxc=4&sh=1&ing=1

You will pay about the same price for almost 3x the servings and have the ability to decide what ratio of protein to carbs you want. If you are aggressively going for muscle you can have a 3:1 ratio of carb:pro immediately post workout and a 1:1 later in the day for a second but less intense insulin spike.

Man, it was brutal.

I was on fire though. I think I shot about 80% on the night... but by the time the fifth game rolled around I was hobbling up and down the court.

But at least I was hobbling and dominancing. ;)

Sweet. I'll have to check that out.

Does that stuff have creatine in it too?

Soccer has always seemed so easy to me...

But I bet if I played it, I would last for about ten minutes. :P

I'm still brutally sore, even more so, after that workout on Thursday. I had some doubts about how effective it'd be considering how quick it was, but my god. I feel like I've been in a car wreck.

This 5K everyday has sent my stamina through the roof. My goal of consistently running 4 miles in 30 minutes should be attainable by the end of the month.

I think I'm gonna do it twice a week, Mondays and Fridays. Wednesdays I'll bike and do yoga.

The pushup program for p90x was laughably impossible and it's apparent that any workout with that component will be similarly tough. Long, skinny arms FTL.

The pushup pull up day? Ridiculously tough, but for me, the pull ups were the issue. At my peak I was still only doing like 12.

I love HIIT. Did you do all 4 circuits? If so, that sounds awful, even with the planks and hip extensions thrown in there.

For those of you who are just getting into HIIT, I suggest doing a simple, repeatable full-body exercise first, like body weight squats. Try to do 8 sets, 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off, full bore. You should be able to get about a rep a second, but don't sacrifice form.
