Kobe Wants Iverson In LA?

Post#1 » by JustOneFix » Thu Oct 27, 2011 5:51 pm

Last season we were beat out because we had no heart against the Mavericks, aside from myself and Derek Fisher there was no player in our locker room when we went do 2-0 that thought we could still win this thing, we need that toughness, that mental toughness, a point guard who can help us in the clutch, I was talking to Coach Brown the other day and I told him Allen Iverson would be a perfect fit. I’ve always loved AI’s game.

Any truth to that? Are those his words?

Signhim to a non guarantteed minimum contract and if he is a distraction, CUT HIM..

Have him play PG as he did when he first came into the NBA.

Tell him to pass fist, not look to shoot all the time, unless he is in with the second unit..

i just want to see AI here because i want to see him have a chance to win a ring. for the minimum hes not much worse than Brown, but deep down, i know theres no way it could work out for him. if he REEAAAAAAALLLLY was changed, then i could buy in, but hes still the same player/personality, and he always will be. and his style is not conducive to teamwork and team play.

In all seriousness, I would LOVE to see Iverson in P&G this year. Fish could still be the "starting PG" in name but when the game was on the line, AI would be on the court ... and if we were playing a small lineup and needed a 3pt shooter like Fish in there, AI could man the 2 and Kobe could slide to the 3, no problem.

Iverson is ours if we want him ... the interesting thing to see will be what players get amnesty cut ... do we sign AI over a Baron Davis or Calderon if they are all willing to sign for the vet min?

I really, really, really want to see Brand get cut by the 76'ers and sign with us but my hunch is they are going to amnesty Chapu and not E-B.

The thing is AI has issues when it comes to chemistry, but if he was truly willing to change and check the go it is a no brainier.

The fact is no matter how much people talk up Pau, Lamar, and Andrew it is Kobe who carries a on of dead weight for the perimeter, in our 3 year finals run out best and most consistent perimeter player in the postseasons have been Fisher, we need a big shot, we go to him. We need someone to check Deron, Oarker, chases Ray Allen, up their averages on the road, cover Nash, whatever it is on Derek to try and carry as much burden as he can for over 30 mins and Kobe to drag the rest across the finish line.

Iverson is better than Blake and Brown even as a shell of himself. He has the ability to score more, better handles, make plays, and force teams to account for him nightly than those two had good nights period last year.

You can say youth and athleticism until your face turns blue, but at the end of the day you need players who can play and produce. The less the baggage on top of that, the better which is why I would actually suggest bringing in McGrady over him.

We are talking about a 36 year old who has not played any meaningful minutes since 2008 here. While I'm cool with trying him out, nothing is a definite when it comes to A.I. I agree when it comes to T-mac he can certainly steal the starting pg role for us in a heartbeat but then we HAVE to get rid of Blake because we need Morris to develop A.S.A.P as it looks like he may be our future at the position
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

Yep, that was the first thing I noticed too. MB can't talk to Kobe period, even if Kobe called him.

I absolutely love Iverson, butDelonte West is a MUCH BETTER FIT for us right now.

Better shooter, better defender of PGs, better defender of SGs, just as much heart, toughness, and cookiness.

i wanna see him in la. why? just cuz. i wanna see him in the P&G. i dont wanna imagine how good or bad it could be. i wanna see it. give him a potential $5 mil mle? heck nah. but i see the potential of a lesser jamal crawford. hes a fiery competitor.. thats something no one can deny. heres the key..
u tellling me theres not a great chance he'll be better than shannon brown/steve blake/fish/goudelock?? like if fish could start on a championship squad.. itll be hard to convince me that iverson cant do the same. with a better defensive scheme (coach browns got that) i think we could hide iversons weaknesses. Try it out!
