Kyle Turris asks Coyotes for Trade

Post#1 » by Nolan » Fri Oct 28, 2011 3:49 am

http://hockey.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/10525/20111027/turris_ask_coyotes_for_trade/

Kurt Overhardt, the agent for the unsigned center, confirmed that Turris has asked the Coyotes for a trade.

"This has never been about money, we've been upfront with the club from Day 1," Overhardt told ESPN.com Thursday. "We've respectfully requested that the player had the opportunity to move forward in his career by having a fresh start."

Coyotes GM Don Maloney's stance has been that he wouldn't trade Turris. And that hasn't changed

I don't know if anyone else has been following this story but its pretty stupid. Up to this point the Coyotes have basically done everything possible to screw up his development and his entire career. This is making the Islanders Josh Bailey screw up look mild.

Just trade his rights already and get this ugly ordeal over with already.

Amazing how highly-touted he was out of Wisconsin and how badly the Coyotes have done developing him. Let him go before he has to go into real estate.

It's not that easy Turris has a lot of upside and teams know that trading for him now should be easy to do since he's demanded to be dealt. I don't think they are going to get a ton for him. Say a level B prospect and a pick it's the most I could see them getting plus the Coyotes need a lot of help as well

Phoenix just traded their 4th in 2012 draft to Nashville for Cal O'Reilly.

Phoenix GM Don Maloney called Turris right after the deal and said to him "That's how easily we replaced you."

Wow.

Wow what a dick move. Not only is Maloney making this situation worse but he's screwing himself and the team in the future.

Okay, so that was just a sarcastic tweet.

It would have been really freakin' sweet had it not been, though.

Turris, IMO, won't live up to his draft hype that made him the 3rd overall pick. Was Gretzyky involved in that pick? Not that the draft was super deep or anything.

If I am Maloney I get whatever I can on the open market for him. If he has a chance to significantly make his team better, he has to do it. If Turris absolutely doesn't want to play for Tippett (one of the best coaches in the league, won't get fired any time soon) and Phoenix, then Maloney doesn't have a choice, he isn't going to win this argument.
