I stand by what I said though, I view Billy Hunter like a cancer for the league, the players need a new rep for the union.

Why? Quite literally any other person would qualify for precisely the same objections you've given here.

Too early for me to say who id really want. Obviously a SF is essential, but depending on how well Drummond does he could be a great fit for us a C.

I think it kind of depends on how NBA ready the players are. I'd prefer potential over production right now. We're not gonna be great the year after this no matter who we draft. I'd like to see a Sf who will be great when Maggette's contract is up, not one who would fight the old dog for minutes.

Drummond is our #1 target by a good margin. After him, it's whatever SF decides they want to distance themselves from the rest of the pack. Unless of course somebody makes a leap like Kemba did last year

Preseason our top 5 is

#1 Drummond

#2a Barnes
#2b Miller

#4a Davis
#4b Jones

I think we should just go BPA with the biggest upside and totally ignore positional need.

That means if someone like Marquis Teague or Kendall Marshall or Myck Kabongo blows the doors off the season and he looks like the BPA, the kid with the highest upside and is on the board when we go to pick then we take him - regardless of having DJ and Kemba on the roster.

We need to draft a super star and then build around him.

Unless Kemba explodes and turns out to be too good to replace.

No one is too good to replace. If you're the 09 Cavs and you've got a LeBron, you still draft Larry Bird if he shows up in the draft.

I've got for preseason top 5.

1a-Drummond
1b-Barnes

3a-Miller
3b-Gilchrist

5-Marshall

Followed by Henson if we get a late lotto pick to go with our top 5 pick.

I don't think we're looking at Gilchrist. He has the potential to be a fantastic defender for sure, but he doesn't do anything well on offense. We desperately need a franchise scorer. We've never had a 25+ a night scorer and it's really hurt us

Yeah but you get my point. Unless there is a sure thing like Duncan, Lebron, Durant, then position need is always going to count when drafting. You would prefer BPA but when that isn't clear cut, then consider where we need the biggest upgrade and who were are happy to stay as a starter.

EG. If we could choose between 2 great scorers and players, one is a shooting guard, one is a small forward. You take the small forward because you can live with Hendo being a starting 2 and at least being a good defensive player.

I like the fact that Gilchrist brings everything else, his scoring will develop with time & I have faith that Kemba will be a 20ppg scorer for most of his career.

I hate to disagree but I think it's pointless to keep getting guys who can "develop an offensive game". We have perimeter defense and post defense. We need somebody who can score. Point blank, plain and simple. And to that point......

WOW 20 per game for Kemba? Here's the list of PGs who have scored 20 over the last 5 years:

Derrick Rose
Russell Westbrook
Tyreke Evans
Chris Paul
Tony Parker
Devin Harris
Baron Davis
Gilbert Arenas

Very high praise.

I think Kemba resembles Baron Davis in his younger years with less explosiveness. Not a fantastic distributor, but can get to the rim, and finish. Hopefully his work ethic will be better than Barons, though.

I think Kemba is a better pure scorer coming out of College than Paul,Westbrook,Parker,Harris & Davis were coming into the league.

I've got a lot of faith in Kemba, I think he's the star we've been waiting for.

I don't think we have to worry about Kemba's work ethic..
