Re: Rodgers rank among QBs
Wasn't Fuzzy Thurston the G w/ Jerry Kraemer? Gale Gillingham came after Thurston retired - oh maybe fuzzy retired after 1st SB and GG started the 2nd. Like Marv Flemming took over TE iin 2nd SB season after Ron Kraemer was traded.

Gilingham took over for Fuzzy yes. It's Ridiculous Kramer isn't in the Hof.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

This isn't an all-time list, but here's something interesting from Simmons on Grantland - ranking the current top 42 QBs (yeah, it's Bill Simmons, so whatever):

Imo, it's a slap in the face to have Unitas 9th.
Where would you place Johnny U and which guy(s)would he bump that are ahead of him now?

Upon reflection and taking into full account the "Super Bowl years" stipulation, it's only fair that I rescind that statement. Imo he was as good as anybody, but not anymore by the time they started playing SBs.

This made me laugh.
34. Kevin Kolb
Here's what I don't get. You're Larry Fitzgerald. You're one of the best receivers of your generation. You've had it both ways: You played with the likes of Kurt Warner, and you played with the likes of Derek Anderson, so you know how important quarterbacks are. Now it's mid-August, you're coming off a long lockout, your team just traded for some unproven dude named "Kevin Kolb," and your team is offering you a monster $120 million extension. Wouldn't you wait a month to make sure Kolb was good? And wouldn't you be thinking, If Kolb sucks, I'm out of here — I'm signing with either New England, Green Bay, New Orleans, San Diego or Pittsburgh, I'm taking a little less money, I'm winning a couple of Super Bowls and I'm going after EVERY Jerry Rice record?
(Cut to Larry Fitzgerald nodding sadly.)

I would instantly let Finley walk if we would have had an opportunity to sign Fitz. Imagine lining up Fitz and Jennings on every play. wow.

Me, too. That's my favorite part. I just didn't want to totally derail the point of this thread

This Packers team would be totally unstoppable if we played in a dome.
I was at the game against the Giants last year in 12 degree weather and Rodgers didn't seem too bothered by it. Here's to hoping every cold weather game ends up like that one.

Rodgers will do fine with the cold weather. The wind and rain/snow games will be tougher.

My intention was that if a QB was around once SBs started they qualified to have their whole career count. That's only fair. I appreciate your admiration for Unitas. I struggled w/ his placement more than any other. I did see him play on TV live a few times and also watched biographical highlights. Unitas was perhaps the epitomy of the perfect pocket passer. Ultimateley I let the numbers call it. If they skew to modern players w/ the 16 game schedule (in volume=yes / by percentages=no) it didn't prevent Starr from ascending the ranks. Its not that JU wasn't great but that there have been 8 or 9 better. That's not many.
So feel free to make your case for where he belongs and who he beats out - unless you propse a 10 player tie for #1.

What's most impressive about this is the amount of distance between #1 and #2.
