assuming there will be a season-let's talk shop

Im missing basketball so much that I want to assume that there will be a season so let's talk about what's on our minds. anything Lakers related goes!

we all know that Fisher sucks on the defensive end, but I think that was a byproduct of Phil. defense was never a high priority for Phil in the regular season and I think that influenced Fishers game. in the playoffs he was decent. I think that with Brown's system Fisher will surprise us. Blake will flourish and the pg position for our team will improve without having to add new people.

our Center back up situation I think is pressing. we need at the very least Congo Cash back.

at the SF position if we can get rid of Luke we can make a run for Battier and move and rotate Barnes or Artest to the SG.

overall I think we can make a run for the the ring if there is a season without having to shake up the roster to much. what are your thoughts on our team?

My thoughts are that I like the team the way it is, and that I agree that we could see improvements defensively from a defensive minded coach. Just not thrilled about the words Mike Brown and championship being mentioned in the same sentence until I see a solid stretch of games played.

I hope Bynum stays healthy. Just by saying that however I know he probably won't. Damn.

Has Pau kissed and made up with his gf? Has he moved on? Does anyone else thinks he paints his toe nails? Idk. Maybe just me.

Really miss basketball? Yes. Wanna see Shane in p&g? Hell no

Other than that I really want to see Bynum dominate this year (I think he will) I still say he was our most consistant player in the playoffs and cared the most out of all our players (see the foul on j.j). Just want to see that fire and heart cary over.

I hope we can get a nice athletic wing player on the cheap that can hit the three (Martell Webster or the like) and want to see us try to develeop our three youngins (Andrew,Morris,Ebanks).

I hope Kobe is willing to take a lesser role, just want to see him feed the post, setup our guys for open jumpers...basically run our offense (dude can average between 8-10 assits). Let him take over in 4th that's more his game and he can still average 20 something points with the occassional 40pt outburst (MVP) would be his.

I know there was something else, what was it? Oh yeah win the freakin championship...Go Lakers!

Good post. 1 question though. If we were to get rid of Luke why is everyone so opposed to Battier? He'd still be a major upgrade from Luke & plays defense. Anyone who plays defense is welcome IMO, we have enough scorers

I say no Shane because we cannot take another 30+ year old player on this team, you want to win then we just can't do it. Look at all these young fast teams that would just run us outta the gym if we keep addiding these old guys. If we were to sign some of these players you guys mention you would immediately regret it by game 20 when players start breaking down or just constantly keep getting beat by the guy their defending.

Don't get me wrong Shane is a nice player, but he only works if your teams average age is like 26.

i posted in the other thread, but the lakers, unless something drastic changes, will not be able to use the MLE. that severely limits what free agents the team can target, and makes players like shane battier impossible to get.

allen iverson at the minimum or a re-signed shannon brown using bird rights doesn't look so bad now, lol.

I want to see D12 in a Lakers uniform ... but realistically belieivng that the Lakers will only tinker ...

I want to see Walton amnesty cut

I want to see us sign or trade for a legit backup C (Blake/Ebanks/Caracter for Turiaf would make my day!)

I want to see us sign a legit backup SG (Iverson, McGrady, VC, etc)

I want to see us be active in signing quality amnesty cut players (Baron, Roy, etc)

If the new cba allows us to still sign MLE guys and work S&T's, etc, I wouldn't mind seeing us trade Odom and Blake for Iggy and then sign Kenyon Martin

I want to see us really develop Darius Morris as I think he has the potential to be a 10 year starter in this league with amazing passing ability ... he needs to be shooting 10,000 jumpers a day though!

I want to see Bynum stay healthy

I want to see us beat the Heat or Bulls (I truly believe they will sign Brandon Roy after he gets cut by the Blazers) in the Finals.

Walton is considering retirement use the amnesty clause on Artest and then we can get a legit player that plays better defense and can shoot better than Mr. World Peace...
