Should Bears get TO?

Post#1 » by heir_jordan22 » Sat Oct 29, 2011 3:03 pm

We have six receivers on the roster -- Hester, Knox, Bennett, Sanzenbacher, Williams and Hurd. Williams is currently manning the role of #1 receiver because of his size, strength and the fact that he's supposed to be a big, easy to hit target for Cutler.

TO is a Hall of Famer and a top 5 receiver of all time. 8 out of 15 season he scored 10 or more touchdowns. He has had over 1,000 receiving yards 9 times. Last year he had 72 receptions for 982 yards and 9 touchdowns. With the bye week TO can learn a handful of plays that he will be featured in by the time they play the Eagles (the "TO package"). When Martz rotates receivers frequently so it's not like he would be acheiving less than Roy Williams anyway.

As the season goes on TO would master more of the offense and develop into a solid #1 receiver come playoffs. He would add a new dimension to our offense and make it tougher for opposing defenses to cover EVERYONE on the field because of the attention the would have to give TO and Forte.

Jerry Angelo MUST consider TO and work diligently to see if he is healthy. If TO is ready to go then IMO we need to cut Roy Williams and pickup the HOF.

Roy Williams btw has never reached double-digit touchdowns in his career. His career high is 8, which he acheived in his first two seasons. He has broken 1,000 yards once, in his third year (2006).

He won't be any better than Williams so I really don't see the point of it. TO looked horrible last and I think its safe to say he's done.

we dont need TO...we have a playmaking wr who can get the ball in traffic and is lethal on the post route in roy williams...devin hester is the best slot wr in the game...johnny knox is the ideal #2 with his blazing speed, ability to catch in traffic, pure route running....earl bennett and zansinbacker are great possessional wrs who can catch everything and they run perfect routes.....

I stopped reading when you said Knox has the ability to catch in traffic.

Return to Chicago Bears
