Ideally he would be "THE" 2nd unit offense for us and he works with a PG like Blake and hustlers like Odom and Barnes but its never that simple with AI. He will not be happy being benched in 4th quarters and he will not just be a spot up shooter when Kobe has the ball in his hands.

Rather give McGrady a chance and manage his minutes so he doesn't break down. At this stage he's a better PG than AI.

As bad as Fisher and Blake are, I'd still rather play those two than Iverson. God no

A player as inefficient as Iverson is only valuable when he's putting up 20+ ppg... to bring a player like that off the bench, what? he'll give you 12 ppg on 40%... awful, awful fit

gett'n too caught up in fantasies involving semi-retired gunners (0 defense in this case...smh) ...and we complain later about how Lakers never develop young talent...

i sure love what went down in NO after CP3 went down... those youngins really emerged. Give the youngsters a chance. What have we gotten when we make the effort? Turiaf, Ariza, We even got a short-lived machine....

This isn't a farm team, it's the Lakers are we want a title this year, not 5 years from now. I like the Morris and Goudelock picks but I have no problem seeing us send them to the D league all season long and letting them play major mins and build confidence down there.

I want to see us with a quality vet backup SG, upgraded PG and quality vet backup C ... give me McGrady, Iverson and Kwame and I will take that all day over actually playing Morris, Goudelock and some rookie fa center ...

rookies hardly ever develop in the d-league they need to actually play with nba type competiton in order to improve their games. I hear you on the win now, but when Kobe is gone and we are in rebuilding mode you don't want to have to start all over, it helps to have a few pieces that were here while it was a winning team to take over. I really really am not a fan of adding passed their prime players. There should be a nice balance of youth and experience. What good is a team full of vets when they'll be broke down come playoff time and run out of the gym by a young up and coming team? (see Spurs vs Grizzlies series) Sure regular season would be nice and if nothing else you finally get to see these once big names on the Lakers but at what cost? We need to play our young guys suring the season so they'll be ready to contribute come playoff time

I hardly consider him "better" then Brown at his age now....he was horribly bad when he went back to Philly, yea put up points but on horrible %, not better then Brown, only problem is AI still thinks he's AI from 7-8yrs ago.

i'd easily give him a chance considering how weak our backcourt is. its not just physical play..its also the mentality he may bring to the lakers, knowing the history and expectations of our franchise.

kobe, gasol, odom, artest, bynum, and fisher are all winners now...mixing in iverson with these guys can turn out to be a high risk with a very high reward.

dos centavos.

Pass on Iverson.

Poor defender. Inefficient scorer. Unreliable team cancer.

I would have to pass on that one for the following reasons:

1. He use to be one of those players that relied ok his athleticism. He was once the quickest player in the NBA. Now, idk if he is quicker than Steve Blake. His age would also affect him on the defensive end, like Fish.

2. He does most of his damage from the painted area. Everyone knows we have enough players that like to play in the paint.

3. He is a mediocre three point shooter. We need shooters to compliment are bigs.

The Lakers might be better off using their trade exception on Daniel Gibson and have him play shooting guard on offense while Kobe plays point guard on offense. They would then switch on the defensive end. Gibson is a better defender than Fisher and Blake. Another thing they could do, if they want to get a point guard that is super fast and at least be able to stay in front of opposing PGs is they could try to sign Ronnie Price. He is really one of the fastest players in the league. However if Kobe says he wants Iverson, then that just might cancel everything out.

fake.

Hmmm unless he was talking to coach Larry Brown?? Kobe and him are said to be pretty close.

Cuz that makes sense

if Kobe and Larry are close and Larry coached Iverson, then it actually does make sense
