Pineappleheadindc Retires As Moderator

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Mon Oct 31, 2011 1:53 pm

Wizards Fans,

I am here to announce the retirement of a legend on this forum.

Over the years, Pineappleheadindc has been a fixture on this forum. In the early days, he helped Jason Rosenthal build our Wizards Community into a great place to discuss Wizards Basketball and what is still the cleanest forum here on RealGM.

During those years, Pineappleheadindc became a Global Moderator due to the influence he had on a number of forums including The Current Affairs Forum, DC Forms and our NHL Forums.

He is truly a well-liked person and someone who would be successful at anything he does.

So, it did not surprise me when he got a big promotion where he works in non-cyber life. I know he deserved it and am very happy for him and his family.

However, this is also why Pineappleheadindc needs to step back from Moderating and has decided to retire as a Moderator.

While Pineappleheadindc is retiring, he will still be around as a "Retired Moderator" but also has the door open to return anytime he chooses.

I am truly grateful for the years of service he has given RealGM and I wish you nothing but the best Pine.

Please join me in thanking Pineappleheadindc for everything he has done for this forum and being the great guy he is.

Thanks!
R.I.P. Dharam Raghubir (A.K.A. Magnumt)

Congratulations on the promotion/retirement pine. I've always enjoyed our interactions on these boards. I have thankfully avoided the fabled Pineappleheadindc Iron Fist of Discipline.

Maybe it was before I got here that you established your reputation, because you never seemed that stern to me. Thanks for your time here, and good luck with your next chapter.

That's because Pine cracked the whip and got all the knuckleheads to behave before you showed up.

Pine, congrats on your promotion. I wish you all the best. Hopefully you will continue to drop in around here every now and then - at least to give out all those ponies that people want for Christmas.

You da man, Pine! Thanks for the laughs and for keeping the trolls at bay. Also, for your example in how to be a good mod. I really hope you'll drop in whenever you get a chance, especially if/when the Wiz get good. All the best, bro.

The next time I go to a game with my nephew (who, by the way, has graduated HS and enlisted in the USAF), I'll have him order up some crab dip for old times' sake. :D

I'll miss you, Pine.

... It just won't be the same posting pics of various Chicago Bulls hermaphroditic and transexual cheerleaders, without Pine to appreciate the freak show humor. :(

On a serious note, you will no doubt make many positive contributions in your new position. The higher up you go, Pine, the better and the more you will serve others. I have really appreciated you.

Sadness. And appreciation. I wish you well and know the world is in a better place with professional do-gooders like pine getting promotions. But still, I should have known something was up when swami was writing you a virtual eulogy in the politics board. Anyway, I expect you'll still write when you get a minute, I just will miss the best sort of righteous smackdowns leavened with the proper sense of forbearance. Not sure any other board would have allowed an Insults and Trolls thread in direct contravention of the forum rules. Sometimes you need cojones to back up empty authority with common sense. So thanks for that.

A big congrats to you, Pine, on your promotion. With the kind of person you are, you'll do well no matter the task whether it's moderating a basketball message board full of these punks or dealing with the happenings of the political scene, etc.

But just because you're retired doesn't mean you can forget about us.

To each and every one of you, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for being part of my life - virtual and real - over the last few years. We've all experienced so much in being Wizards fans. Old-timers will remember with me the pre-Jordan era. The "hey, Anthony Goldwire can play" (that we me, sadly) era.

And we remember MJ first buying into the team, then rumors of him practicing with the team. And then playing - we'd do board games (first visiting MJ's restaurant for dinner first), Then, he's gone, then in comes Gil, Uncle Ted, goodbye Gil, hello @JimmyWa11....it's been a real roller coaster.

And we've all aged and gone thru so much. So many of us have gotten married (or re-married) during our tenure here, or had kids, or experienced life changing (good and bad) moments. Found new spiritual places to be. Had great, smart, and thoughtful political discussions. I leave active membership of this board with a full and grateful heart - and it's because of each of you.

I want to publicly thank JRo for bringing me on board. For all of us who are exiles from the old ESPN board, this is better. We are a virtual community - a disparate collection of individuals who come together for a love of our team, to commune with like-minded fans who are also good guys (and women, cdouglas). I want to thank Howard Mass and the team of RealGM owners and management for letting me play in their sandbox. For their patience with me. And for this wonderful site.

And thanks to the mods of this board - WizStorm, Miller, Rico - and the other boards who give of themselves to make this site a good part of our lives.

I'll be back, but pretty infrequently. My new job gets untracked in 3-4 weeks and it'll be a doozie. But if offers me something which drives me in my professional life - an opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives. I have to take this opportunity and run as hard as I can, while still devoting some time to my family. That means other stuff, including RealGM, has to take a back seat.

If you want to keep in touch, any number of folks here have my contact info. Or I know I go back and forth with Rafael on both Facebook and Twitter. So you can get my info from him via PM.

Ultimately, let me repeat. RealGM - and all of you - have not just been part of a virtual life. Or just a mere pasttime. You've all been a part of my real life. I leave here with a part of this place, and each of you, within me. And for that, gentlemen, you have my eternal appreciation.

Godspeed to all of you,

Pine

Truly, a kindred of mine. I feel the same way about myself. :D

(Thanks to my having an epiphany about how good God is not just for me but for anyone who takes hold. And for others, don't be pressured or feel judged by me. Just be happy and live righteously, because I'm just one guy with his views).
