Baron Davis...

Post#1 » by dukeknicksirish » Wed Nov 2, 2011 12:17 am

Baron's to-GO list consists of the Lakers, the Bobcats, and the Knicks...

Baron Davis on this team would create:

5.Andrew/Pau
4.Pau/Odom
3.Ron/Barnes
2.Kobe
1.Baron/Fisher

What do you think???

I can dig it. Makes more sense than the Battier frenzy that's been going on around here seeing that Baron would actually fill a current need for us. But that's only if he stays in shape and takes the game serious which he has not done constantly the last couple of years, hopefully if he comes to LA the culture would change his thinking
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

Would love it to happen, maybe amnesty cut Steve Blake? If not, Fish could be the backup 2.

meh... by no means would Baron be an ideal fit... very inefficient and hasnt been good consistently on defense since he left the Hornets.... That said he's better than what we've got... If we dont have a better option at PG from amnestied free agents, I suppose we could give him a shot...

I firmly hope we don't make a knee jerk reaction on Blake. He's been consistent wherever he's been and I still remember how good he was for the Nuggets when they had AI and Melo.

Triangle offense can screw with point guards, even Payton couldn't do much with it. Blake just simply lost all confidence from not knowing the offense last season.

The problem with Blake for me is hes solid at everything (except defense) but not good at anything... He'll shoot around 40% from 3, but he's not going to take enough consistently to make a huge impact for us.. He's a pretty good passer but nothing special.. He's not going to change a game for us with his playmaking... I was disappointed by his defense.. The effort is there.. its just.. he's bad lol... like Luke.. I dont think anyone ever questioned Lukes effort.. but that doesnt make him a good player... I'll pass on Steve Blake.. Just not a very good player imo

He's worth his role and he plays it perfectly. We'll have Fisher close out games anyways so if Blake is steady enough for 32 mins a night, that's more than what we need and his playmaking is invaluable in a different offense so Kobe can concentrate on scoring.

perfectly? I gotta disagree.. theres many many backup PGs I would take over Blake in a heartbeat... his 3pt shooting is nice but he cant stay in front of anybody

Only issue I have with Blake is that he cannot be the spark or play the uptempo bench unit like Jordan and Sasha could, other than that I think he is a starting caliber PG, I really like to see what back up point guards you can list that are clearly better than him.

I won;t worry much about his defense when we will play a zone like Brown's teams always do, which is one reason I like this coaching hire. He won't let pride stand in his way like Phil did and will rather play a 100% zone with 2 7-footers to clog the paint for us.

BEE DEE! i like baron davis obviously when hes motivated. one thing.. as long as he stays healthy.. and this is uncertain.. hes a great passer. we have trouble throwing in the post, alley oops lalala. BD could help the fast break as well as orchestrate a nice inside out game for the bigs and kobe and stuff. would be nice to see. hope he dont go to heat!

do able but would like to see him show up in shape, dude normally tries to play the season out to get in shape, thats probably why he's always hurt.

When he's in shape he is still the man.

B-diddy's lobs to Bynum would make him look like D-Howard, and make the lobs to Kobe look like #8 again

i know green is for sarcasm, but what color is for exaggeration?

it would be a major waste if we used the amnesty clause on blake, i'd much rather amnesty artest off, slide fisher into the backup sg role, and have diddy start. why i remember people were clamoring during the season that more minutes should be given to blake and how blake should possibly start. but now blake's trash and "not good at anything", gotcha. he's a serviceable pg and plays his roll well, sorry he's not chris paul.
