LaCava turns down Orioles job to stay with Jays

Post#1 » by Rhettmatic » Tue Nov 1, 2011 9:35 pm

Good news, everyone!

Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal
Sources: LaCava turns down #Orioles' offer of GM job. #MLB

Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal
LaCava will stay with #BlueJays as assistant GM. #MLB

Confirmed:

Wilnerness590 Mike Wilner
Confirmed: Tony LaCava isn't going anywhere. Great news for #Bluejays to be sure. I didn't want to see how #jays would fare without him.

I am very happy but feel bad for the O's. I would be so mad if somebody wasted the Jays time.

Sounds like it's all Angelos's fault.

If true, an absolute disaster, caused by Angelos. RT @supermatt1331: thoughts on LaCava turning down Baltimores offer to stay with Jays?

Angelos is one of the worst meddling owners in baseball. LaCava likely asked for the free reigns to do whatever he wants; Angelos (being the moron that he is) refused and thats what caused LaCava to turn it down.

Apparently low balled him on the money as well. That's pretty embarrassing for the Orioles organization, but no particularly surprising because of Angelos.

The Orioles fans on their largest forum aren't blaming Lacava at all for this. It is a depressing place.

Its not just Angelos, for some reason Showalter has too much inflence in that organization, it makes sense if LaCava didn't want to be the number 3 guy

Only one person was mad at Lacava and he appears to be a shill for O's management.

I guess LaCava got the hint of the horse head in his bed that AA delivered.

A first time GM going to the AL East with a meddling owner and a power hungry manager? LaCava made the right call. He is better off being the GM of a team like the Pirates than the Orioles. It would have been a good move for the Orioles though. Good for the Jays to keep LaCava on board, although I'm sure he won't be assistant for much longer.

P.S. anything that removes AA from GM should NOT be done under ANY circumstances....so hell no on AA as president and LaCava as GM.

Perhaps they have offered Beastons job to LaCava after he retires, that would make sense.

After nearly a decade out of the game, Dan Duquette lands Orioles GM job:

Unintentionally funny tweet from Jeremy Guthrie:
"By all accounts we're fortunate to have him."

There is no real way for me to prove this but from talking to a friend who worked with the Jays within the last year, supposedly Lacava got a big raise to stay in Toronto.
