Dressing up in blackface doesn't go over well in these parts.

I don't think it goes over well in any parts.

Wow, the Flyers are lighting up Miller right now. 2 goals in 2 minutes.

Torres wasn't trying to be rasict but the whole "blackface" thing just brings up bad and unfortuante history.

Of racism.

It's really hard to make Doc Emrick bored, yet the Sabres' effort is doing just that tonight.

That Philly Buffalo game actually turned out to be pretty good.

At times the Flyers just look amazing. When they get healthy they could be a very very dangerous team.

Waiting for NIck Obergan at RGM to decide that his bold prediction of Jeff Skinner suffering a Sophmore slump was wrong. Predicted he would drop from 31 goals to 22. He has 6 goals in first 12 games.

Skinner is tied for 16th in scoring, and tied for 9th in goals. And somehow, Obergan has him ranked as the #90 Forward in the NHL. Guess his out is that Skinner scored his last 2 goals on Sept 1, and these rankings ended on 10/31? IDK, but does not seem a very good judge of talent.

Its pretty early to declare one way or another and it's a prediction column for a reason....if Nick nailed every one of them he should be in Vegas, not here.

Obergan's rankings have nothing to do with personal opinion, they're based on the OCPR formula which is the NHL's version of PER.

I see now. Then I retract my statement about his ranking. Cannot in good faith accuse him of poor judgment on that issue.

But I can still fault him for poor prognostication of Skinner regressing this year.

And honestly i`m not really a fan of OCPR anyway.

If you look at the final rankings for last year there`s a ton oddities. Like RJ Umberger being ranked higher that Patrick Kane, Thomas Vanek, Mikko Koivu, Brad Richards and a few other far better players.

Seems the OCPR formula could use a little tweaking. Oh well, let the brainiacs figure it out.

Minnesota is dominating Vancouver. Vancouver defensemen would rather lay on their stomachs than actually play defense.

Hawks-Cats going to shootout. Very entertaining game, especially seeing that Kris Versteeg has learned...pretty much nothing.

Cal Clutterbuck with a nice left hand to the linesman's nose.

That would be me, and that article was largely for fun. If you go through all 30 teams, there are probably 25 of them that are more likely to NOT happen than to happen.

I definitely respect your opinion. OCPR is an imperfect stat, for sure, but one that I think has a good basis. You are correct in that I got the idea from PER, in trying to include stats that aren't just goals and points. It could probably be tweaked, but could probably be tweaked 1000 different ways and be imperfect each and every time.

Besides, what fun are rankings if we can't debate them?
