Maybe so but it's foolish to say Spurs/Redknapp didn't also play a part with his dismal playing time in the last 3 years with the team.

Gio is a starter for a strong Mexico team, he was the runner up as the World's Best Young Player last year (Mueller), and played well in the Gold Cup. How is that not worthy of a look for Harry??

Right now, Gio has been a professional about this situation. Despite Harry lashing out at him a couple of times in the past, Gio kept to himself. Never said anything back.

Enough is enough. If Harry keeps his word this time (he said, he will give Gio a chance; he was named as part of the team/roster today), we will see Gio play with the team. And hopefully solidifying his spot in the first team.

Gio has played for Galatasaray half season and I watched him in our stadium. he is a fair player. To be honest, he doesn't have that talent he can carry a team on his shoulders but he can def. be a good, solid player in any team.

Gio sucked at Gala. he has the speed but didn't do anything with it. he probably has Podolski syndrome, performs well for NT but too mentally fragile to put up with ups and downs of club football.

I don't think Gio deserved to be the runner up to Mueller. Oezil, Chicharito, Guardado, Sanchez and a few others out played him in my eyes. He's still got that potential, but his failure to develop has a large part to do with the flaws in his game that made me rank those other youngsters above his level of play. His individual talents massively outweigh his skill at integrating into a team, he made some impressive runs at the WC, but often would have no idea what to do from there to finish the opportunity he managed to create. He didn't have that instinct for where his support was going to be coming from that a top notch player needs. If that recognition of the game around him hasn't improved, then he's really not going to help a premier league squad that has been trying to sneak into the top 4 while he's been there. Now I haven't followed his situation closely and am basing a lot of my opinion on his performance with Mexico at the WC, so there maybe significant parts to the story that I'm missing but I don't think it's any sort of travesity that Gio hasn't been spoon fed PT if he hasn't gotten smarter over the past 2 years.

I honestly wasn't even that impressed with him at the WC for the NT either. He was able to get past some guys and get to space, but he seemed almost confused some times when it came to capitalizing on the advantage he had created. Poldi at least just doesn't play D for the NT.

Statistics may show something but doesn't show everything. He didn't suck at all. If you ask Gala fans, i would say %80 are still confused why we didn't buy him at the end of season. It is true that he didn't score and only dished 2 times in 15-16 games but he certainly showed some good skills especially in Trabzon and Manisaspor game.

i know plenty of Gala fans and "why his unproductive ass on the field?" has been muttered much more often than why we didn't buy him. he didn't show skill, he showed flash due to his speed and stoic defenders he played against but that didn't get him anywhere. any Gala fan that is not mesmerized by flashy players saw that.

Probably the fans who live in San Francisco were watching different games than the fans like me who were watching Galatasaray at Ali Sami Yen stadium. It is not that hard to go to Galatasaray forums and see what actual fans who watch Galatasaray in Istanbul say about Gio..

We should have gotten Gio after he spent the season with us. We didn't use the option of getting him 5.5 million euros and right now we sold our only left winger(Arda) to Atl. Madrid.

pretty obvious you never stepped a foot in Ali Sami Yen. i am still well connected with Gala fan groups buddy, not hard for me to spot a bullsh*t.

What the heck are you talking about? What do you want me to do, scan my season pass and put the picture of it on here? :) As I said, it is easy to prove what I told you. Go to ASY.net, open a topic and we'll see what actual fans think about it.

I don't know.

How can Gio develop as player if he never was given a legit opportunity to show his worth? Like I said, he's done well with the NT, Gold Cup and Copa America (he was busting his ass all around the pitch, hard tackles despite playing with a depleted U-22 Mexican team). What more can he prove? I have to remind myself he is only 22 years old. But then again, he would have made a name for himself much earlier if he was given a decent opportunity in the first place. He's been in and out of Tottenham for loan teams. That's essentially his PT in the last couple of years.

Today's friendly against Poland, he entered as a sub for Sinha (a player that shouldn't be anywhere near the NT) at halftime, and Mexico looked much more dangerous on the pitch. Gio was pushing tempo and delivering good service to his teammates. I asked myself, why isn't he in the first team for Tottenham? The dude definitely can contribute for them.

At the end of the day , I re-watch Gio in his Barcelona days and say to myself, "damn, this kid could have been great" instead I usually say "Give Gio PT damn it!!".

From what I can recall, I heard nothing but good things about Gio from Gala fans. I don't know.

*shrug* admittedly I might just have not watched him enough recently, but at the WC he showed a lot of good things getting past defenders and creating more dangerous situations but when it came to delivering that final pass/shot/cross he seemed completely befuddled. I don't really know how to fix that "instinct for the game", but I would hope that watching a quality premiere league side from the bench, getting to practice against them and getting some loan spells would've helped show progress in that direction. If he hasn't, which I suspect is Tottenham's position, than giving him PT to learn would only cost them points.

As I said man, it is easy to prove. Everybody can go to Galatasaray forum and ask real fans who watched the team and Gio in Ali Sami Yen stadium. It is free to try ;)

this?

http://www.asy.net/

i don't think they talk about Gio in real estate market

however first four posts after searching Gio in ultrAslan(by far the most influential Gala fan group) forums;

-a fan questioning the possibility of spending 5 million on such an unproductive player when club is in financial crisis

-a fan comparing his relationship with Rij and his previous coaches.

-a fan suggesting he enter the game as a sub to give the team energy boost since he looks disinterested after long periods.

-a fan questioning his shooting and finishing and how his game hasn't improved in 4 months.

:)

"The transfer of Cesc was a very good deal for us. Normally his price wouldn't have been €29m, but he lowered his value by saying that he really wanted to go to Barcelona. His real price was what Arsenal initially asked. He's worth at least €60m in my opinion," Bartomeu told Sport.

"Transfer negotiations are like poker. Ideally, nothing is leaked to the press, but that seems to be impossible because of all the parties that are involved.

"The fact that we announced in advance that we would only spend €45m this summer worked to our advantage. Clubs were already well aware of our stance."

Barca VP. At least they admit he's worth far more than they would bid now, small consolation though. I like the part about ideally nothing being liked to the press from transfers LOL!

I stopped reading after asy.com :)

What kind of a fan are you though? ASY is coming from 'A'li 'S'ami 'Y'en. This is the first thing you should know.

Clearly you have no idea about GS forums whatsoever dude. Otherwise, you would know this forum.

Also, don't forget this, uA.com is a fan website, so there are kids who are 13-14 years old which they don't know anything about football. If you go to Alisamiyen.net, people who are writing in that platform are over 20 years old which means they know the real football. At uA.com there are some old people as well but they are fanatics so they don't even watch the game since their duty is to chant with other fanatics.

uA.com can't be the most influential forum because of the age average and fanatics. ASY.net is the most influential one because there are some members who HAVE BEEN IN THE GALATASARAY BOARD.

So, you are saying GS fans didn't want Gio and I am saying we wanted Gio. Other members will decide who knows much about Galatasaray and GS forums after they read what I wrote above. ;)

If he hadn't demanded Barca, City would have probably paid 60 for him. Maybe more if there was another bidder.

I guess with Riera money talks more than Champions League. Galatasaray snagged him at the death of the transfer window.
