I just got back from getting an oil change and was reading the sports section while there, was an article by I don't remember who in today's JS that said they hoped Neal would be cleared to return to practice after the SD game.

It basically said the knee was healed he just had to build up strength and get back to using it again, Neal himself said it was more the Quad that he needed to strengthen than the actual knee because he was a little weaker than normal due to having to stay off it during the early parts of rehab.

When I woke up this morning I heard on the radio that he was still "weeks away," whatever that means.

King thinks the Packers lose this week.

Aaron Schatz has a pretty odd article out this week. The title is "Why the 2011 Green Bay Packers are Overrated". He says they're the best team in the NFL this season, but he thinks the Packers aren't historically great, something that the public seems to believe.

What say you, public? I haven't seen many (any?) say they're the '85 Bears.

Idiotic, and I have seen no on mentions of this team being historically great. If anything, I repeatedly hear about a weak pass defense and lack of a pass rush.

The team is undefeated, has the best qb in the league, great chemistry, and leads the league in DVOA. The packers have the best odds of winning the superb owl, but it would surprise no one if they didn't.

Further, there really are no truly balanced teams this year.

Overall, articles like this one are indicative of lazy writing. It's easier to make up a premise (GB being historically great) than to come up with anything truly relevant/interesting.

Silliness.

1. Stun that King is picking us to lose. We'd be like 10-50 since Favre left if we actually lost all the games he thought we would.

2. Who is saying the Packers are historically great?

Yeah, don't see the historically great part. Great for sure, but not up and down the line with teams throughout history. I guess I'd like to see what teams have started 7-0, and what their PPG differential and SOS was in those starts. We are 7-0, but don't even have the top PPG differential this year (let alone comparable historically), and our current SOS is ranked 27th in terms of DVOA.

Now, we don't make the schedule and we have taken care of the teams we're supposed to. I need to see how it unfolds though.

In looking, I guess FWIW we are currently on pace for our 4th best PPG differential in team history (+203) and the combined records of those other three teams were 28-6. But that isn't factoring schedule in. Our schedule isn't a bear by any means, but a lot tougher than the first half.

The highest ever is +315 by 2007 Patriots.

What if we finish the season with not historically great stats but go 19-0, would that not make this team historic? No one has been calling this team historically great and that cannot even be determined this early in the season.

If we do finish 19-0, that will mean we in all likelihood do have great stats.

It at least gets you historical recognition. No one considers the '72 Phins the best ever but they'll always be in the books with a perfect season. The Packers would have the distinction of being the only 19-0 team ever.

As much as I'd want to go undefeated what I'm hoping to see after all is said and done is a dynasty. I won't care if we go undefeated if people look back at this team the way they do the 60s Packers, 70s Steelers, 80s niners and 90s Cowboys.

Obviously there's a long way to go.

The Saints and Colts teams from 2009 weren't historically great either, yet I didn't see anywhere near the amount of questions that we're getting on our run.

Aaron Schatz needs to know his role and shut his mouth.

Looks like the youtube songs are getting started a little earlier this year. We need to get back to the Super Bowl so Lil Wayne can come out with another song.
