He is pretty athletic & is very serviceable though, he's easily worth 2-3m a year.

Deals like that to guys like McRoberts is the reason the owners locked the players out this summer.

If he averaged 7ppg/5rpg/2apg/1bpg/55% in 22 minutes for 3m per I'd be really happy.
Thats our PF situation locked down for the future..
Thomas/McRoberts
Biyombo/McRoberts
It works well in my opinion.

Honestly why not???
7 & 5 are pretty good backup numbers.

The Pacers have been screaming for a PF for years now and he couldn't really make a difference with them.
He's a marginal player who should be paid marginally. 5 years 15-20m is more than marginal IMO.

Here's a question: what does McRoberts do that White or Cunningham don't? There's no reason to add another guy when we have equal players on our roster at lower rates. Unless we're signing a center (ex: Kwame), there's no reason to sign a front court player if/when we get to that stage.

?? White and Cunningham have good mid range shots.
McRoberts is a solid 3rd stringer, thats about it.

Here's the thing, we need to be over the minimum cap as well as have cap space. When Cunningham expires and we don't have anyone else on the bench to meet minimum, then we have to sign him. I'd rather pick which mediocre players we use, do you know what I mean? Like between DJW and McRoberts, neither will win us a lot of games right now but down the line it will matter which one we have. I'd rather have McRoberts right now. So sign McRoberts, and that gives us roster spots and cap space we don't need to fill with scraps.

Both Dante and DJ are right behind those numbers in less minutes per game. McRoberts is not younger or more athletic. There is no reason to think that he has more upside. So there is no reason to pay him more than we would have to pay these guys. If for some reason we need to fill out the roster I'd be looking for a minimum big. If we are going to look for a contributer then let's pursue a real one like Marc Gasol, Spencer Hawes, or the Ex Mr. Kardashian. We don't need to give a multi year multimillion dollar contract to a seventh or eighth man. I take it that you do not wish to resign Kwame.

I really do want to resign Kwame who in my eyes is really underrated but I still think we're underdone in the front court even with him, If TT & Diop get injured again we are in serious trouble.
DJ White has been decent for us & so has Dante Cunningham but neither of them have the size to rotate to the 5 when we need it, Josh McRoberts at 6-10 240 does. He also has a nice little offensive game that would help with us only having defense first bigs aside from Diaw who will most likely leaving at the deadline(if we have one) and if DJW & DC perform well enough when they expire they will want decent change to stay anyway.
In regards to some of the bigger name FA bigs I just don't think in our present state we need to be throwing large dollars the way of a player(s) who will get in the way of rebuilding.
I do see McRoberts as someone who can break out in a major way with the minutes & effort from coaching staff, if he ends up averaging 12/8 for 3m per I'd be ecstatic.
I'd rather McRoberts over Hawes any day of the week.

Welcome to the Bobcats board Adam, any contribution is welcome.
There is no way we would use it on Tyrus.
Good luck with your suspension.
