I've waited forever for this.

MIAMI, October 21 - The Miami HEAT and Sun Sports announced today that they will produce and air “HEAT Classics,” a new program featuring a series of memorable HEAT games including commentary and reflections from the team’s current stable of Emmy-Award winning broadcast talent as well as guest appearances from various HEAT personalities who played a part in the particular showcase game.

The schedule of HEAT Classics takes fans back to the earliest days of the franchise. Among the first games to be featured are several unforgettable victories from the inaugural HEAT season including:

The First Win: December 14, 1988 – Miami HEAT vs. Los Angeles Clippers

After 17 straight losses, Miami finally breaks into the win column with a one-point win in Los Angeles vs. the Clippers.

The Comeback: January 15, 1989 – Indiana Pacers vs. Miami HEAT

The upstart HEAT rally from 29 points down against Reggie Miller and the Indiana Pacers to win in double overtime in what remains the largest single deficit ever overcome in franchise history.

The Flyswatter Game: February 17, 1989 – Charlotte Hornets vs. Miami HEAT

In a clash of first year expansion teams, the HEAT rallied for a last second victory against the Charlotte Hornets. Thousands of flyswatters were distributed prior to the game and became part of the post-game celebration.

Ron Rothstein, the first HEAT Head Coach and current Assistant Coach, joins HEAT originals Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino on the set, along with host Jason Jackson for these initial HEAT Classics presentations.

During the HEAT Classics presentation, select players from each featured game will also be highlighted in several Where Are They Now? segments. Drawn from the Emmy-Award winning production Inside the HEAT, these elements will provide fans with the opportunity to learn more about HEAT stars of yesteryear and what they are up to in the present day. Billy Thompson, Jon Sundvold, and Rory Sparrow are among those former players whose stories will be featured.

The HEAT Classics campaign will debut on Tuesday, October 25th at 7:00 p.m. with an encore presentation the following evening at 8:30 pm. “HEAT Classics” will then continue to air statewide on Sun Sports each Wednesday night, with a second weekly airing on the network (check local listings for dates and times). Additionally, each HEAT Classics presentation will be made available to fans online via HEAT.com as part of a special “Classic Friday” promotion beginning Friday, October 28th.

A complete schedule of airdates and channel listings will be available each week on both Foxsportsflorida.com and HEAT.com. Fans who wish to join in a discussion about the classic games are encouraged to search #HEATCLASSICS on Twitter and post their comments while watching the shows.

The Miami HEAT is proud to have ASSIST-CARD as the Presenting Sponsor for the 2011-12 season.

They're starting with early games, but I really hope they begin televising classic HEAT games from the Zo Era as well as recently. There have truly been some thrillers in Miami's history, and I can't wait to get them on DVD.
