I say no, he doesn't have the fastball command you want in a top of the rotation starter that is necessary to succeed in the AL East. You also have to realize he pitched in the AL West, with huge stadiums like Oakland and Seattle, who might I add have inept offenses.

When you take that all into account, if we are going to spend roughly 80$+ million, I would go for the higher upside risk in Yu Darvish, since he's only 24 and half of that money won't count against the luxury tax. Not only that but he already shows plus command, durability and the ability to handle the spotlight.

Text book case, the Yanks are victims of their own success. This guy is a nice innings eater but cause its the Yankees are looking to fleece the team of beaucoup dollars.

Yanks ain't taking anything Japanese until Kei comes off the books in another season.

I hope they re-sign him to a minor league deal. Batting practice pitchers are hard to come by...

AND he'll be 31....CJ Wilson is at that age where what you'll see is what you get..problem is the price tag. I love these FA who say the right things but stop short of saying, "CJ wilson would be perfect for NYC" add "But I want 100 million...." It's the cry of the modern hypocrite who says "The Yankees are known for winning..." add "I want them to win for me and sign my cheques..." crap like that.

Return to New York Yankees
