I don't live in Atlanta, so it wouldn't make a difference to me. Yes, I'd still cheer for them. Not sure how any of those locations you mentioned would be more profitable than the Atlanta market though, outside of maybe Seattle.

Just a friendly FYI: it's et cetera rather than atsetera.

That's not something that'd be solved by relocating the franchise to Vancouver, New Jersey, Anaheim, Buffalo, or Albuquerque.

Atlanta is a large market, a team's profitability is not determined solely by how many fans attend, look no further than San Antonio and Portland as teams with great fan attendance but low income. Because of this the Hawks aren't going anywhere or will be contracted because they have ample resources available around them and just haven't tapped into them fully. The only fear of losing the Hawks is to a bigger market with newer facilities and I'm not sure if you've noticed not many if any of those are available.

1st, Phillips Arena is owned by the same outfit that owns the Hawks. I doubt that a new owner would move the Hawks and take a huge loss on an Arena without a team to fill it. People worth that much $$ don't make decisions like that.

2nd, not sure if you can cite fan attendance as a reason for wanting to move the team. I remember as a youngster going to Hawks games with Dominique and there was hardly an open seat in the house. There are on court issues that need to be fixed before fan attendance can be reasonable. The current ownership decided to tank a few seasons so that they could rebuild. They understood that the attendance would be low until the franchise got back on top. The problem was that they failed in their rebuilding effort (thanks a bunch Billy Knight) and now we're stuck in neutral with a mediocre team that doesn't appear to be able to get back to the top.

As far as backing the team IF it did move - I prolly be bitter and root against them every chance I got.

^^^Exactly my point. Unless the Knicks vanished into thin air and they wanted to replace them with the Hawks then it's simply not economically feasible to move the team based solely on "fan attendance". It would be far more lucrative and easier to find a star than to make the math work on a Hawk relocation or contraction.

Yes, if we moved to Vegas I would move there also because I am thinking of doing so also. I don't think the world would end, I would just purchase NBA League Pass because the truth is Dominique and his sidekick annoy me and really let me in on why the team is not progressing. Nique is in the front office and knows little to nothing about talent and what the team needs.

Well if you want to move the team, then what will you do with Phillips?! As mentioned, I doubt any owner would invest money like that only to abandon the arena.

I would support them until Smith and Johnson leave. After that I will make the Blazers my new favorite team and probably attend Wizards games until a team came back to Atlanta. I doubt Atlanta would go without a team in the 3 major sports though.

The Hawks aren't moving, but to entertain the question, no, I wouldn't cheer for them in another city. I might keep an eye on them for a couple years but after that will they any ties left to the group I cheered for. They become a new entity and then I'd be a fan free agent as such I'd probably go with league pass and pick whichever team appealed most to me.

I feel the same way, I wouldn't cheer for the team either just like I don't cheer for the "Jets" of Winnipeg, I would however root for the Lakers until Kobe retires.

Atlanta is the ninth largest television market in the nation. They won't be moving and if they did I wouldn't cheer for them. David Stern probably wants the ASG out as soon as possible. I just hope they're still seeking another buyer and not keeping the team like the reports stated.

Vegas is no place for an NBA team. I am currently staying in Vegas and live here 50/50 between it and Atlanta. The structure of the area wouldn't be able to handle an NBA team and Vegas is far less appealing when you live here. The city is trying to make the area more welcoming and not just a casino town, but that doesn't mean it's going to welcome an NBA team, and I think it would be a bad move if David Stern ever allowed it. My opinion could eventually change depending on how Vegas changes.

What's a good outskirt of Vegas to live in?

Henderson/Green Valley (southeast)
Summerlin (west/northwest)
Boulder City

Summerlin is probably the nicest. I have limited information on the outskirts but Summerlin is very popular (kind of pricey). I stay near the strip and that's basically the ghetto and only a place to venture to if you plan on staying here a limited amount of time. UNLV area and further down.

I cheer for the ATLANTA- hawks. If they ever left I'm becoming a front runner and picking the Lakers, Heat, Thunder or Bulls.
If it counts luck is worth the same as skill

Return to Atlanta Hawks
