Yeah, I think ESPN is late to the story (as usual). Pretty sure they announced this right after the renovation plan was finalized.

Pretty cool. I'll definitely be buying a share.

Goodell already said it's good to go. It will be the same $200 as the first time. That was decided awhile ago, not sure why ESPN is just reporting it now.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think the Packers said they were probably going to do and this is more confirmation that it WILL happen?

Soon. You will only be available to buy directly from the Packers. I can't remember how I actually bought mine if it was online or through the mail. I'm sure there will be an online option. The certificates are pretty cool, assuming they will be similar.

I can think of a lot worse ways to burn money. And it is like donating money to charity. It is going towards a public works project to relieve the amount of taxation needed to keep a business that is a whole town.

And if you really need justification to pay $200....
1. You can use it as a conversation piece for the rest of your life. Whenever I talk Packers to people from out of state, they seem to ask how their isn't an owner. You can say not everyone in Wisconsin is an owner, I actually get to go to stock holders meetings and, by law, they have to show the financing of the stadium, players, etc. It can be really interesting to talk about.
2. You get 4 tickets every year to the stock holders meeting. Granted you wouldn't want to go every year, but you can go every other year and network with clients or co-workers, or just bring your friends. It is an unique experience and you get a tour of Lambeau at the end (also get to talk to people like Bob Harlan, Ted Thompson). Price it out cheaply at $15 a person for a ticket and tour, and after 3 years you pay for it.
3. If you are a big sports fan and want something to display, a good piece of memorabilia would be like $300. I'm talking about a 10X20 signed photo, or some kind of object that will draw attention. Or you could spend $200 on the stock and I'm sure you would get a lot better reaction when Packer fans come over.

Say you buy the stock now and you live to be 80 years. It comes out to $4 a year in membership fees to support the Packers.

 Yeah, I can't believe people spend money on something like that.

Also, you are in disbelief that a fanbase that spend beautiful summer days 6 deep around a fence watching practice, pay money to watch a practice inside Lambeau, and drops triple digits on preseason tickets, would spend money to be an "owner" of the Packers?

I think Chumlee might pay you $25 for it should you need to sell it.

ETA: It is basically a piece of art. Along the lines of what Marty said above.

No way. Chum would pay at least $150. Rick, his fat kid whatever his name is and Old Man wouldn't want it at all.

These look nice on walls. I have seen them in many offices and homes.

Of course now the new ones will make the old ones with Harlan's stamped signature a collectors piece and people will need a second one to hang, assuming they slightly change the artwork.

I'd guess these probably cost them about 30 dollars to administratively process, print and ship out. The additional 170 goes right to the bottom line.

It is a ridiculously brilliant marketing idea that they get away with. They get all the contact info from people buying for future marketing opportunities.

If Mark Murphy hints that they may only offer shares in years after they win a Super Bowl, I'm sure they will sell an extra 40,000 certificates.

I'm sure you could list things you spend your money on that others would find odd and a waste of cash. I figure whatever people want to spend their money on is ok with me, who am I to judge. I do find it odd when people criticize others for spending money on something just because they don't want to do the same thing.
