Kaman or Okur?

Post#1 » by Todd3 » Tue Nov 8, 2011 6:53 pm

I read an article that said Memo is likely to be one of the players to be used in the amnesty clause. There's also always been that rumor of the Tay-Kaman S&T. I know there's no guarantee there will be s&t's anymore, but latest proposal I heard only teams over the luxury tax wouldbt be allowed to do s&t's and I think DET/LA are both under the tax.

So, hypothetically, if we had the chance to acquire either big man, which would you rather have?

I know most would rather have someone better, but realistically, these might be our best options. And I do think either guy would be an improvement to our current frontline.

RIP for Memo, Raja Bell = perfect deal for both teams without adding a lot more salary to the team, no to sign n trade Tay-Kaman, we cant add any more mayor salary before getting rid of Charlie, RIP, Gordon, Maxiell, Jonas and Stuckey want to get paid too...

Come on, both of those guys are injury prone...We don't want to waste our time with players that might not be able to contribute in a full season...Think Okafor, Jefferson, or even Robin Lopez...

if we're looking purely at on court fit Kaman offers alot more of what we need compared to Okur.

but like others have said we'll need to move other salaries before acquiring anyone else.

If we could do a 3 way with the clips and Utah, it may work???
sending rip to utah (starting SG they lack)
sending memo to the clippers (outside shooting big compliments griifin and jordan better)
senidng Kaman and bell to us (get a inside presence at both ends)

Why would Phoenix trade nash for Rip?? If Nash was still on the suns roster, Rip would make sense, but if he's not there Rip has no place there.

neither. just let the young guys play this season so we can develop them and add another huge piece to this core through the draft. adding a guy like kaman will only make us a borderline playoff team at best. just endure one more season guys lol.

Robin Lopez could be had fairly cheaply. He wasnt getting many minutes after the Gortat trade and doesnt seem to be a major part of their plan. I could be completely wrong but i think he could be a good acquisition for the Pistons.

^you would think right? i wouldn't mind grabbin lopez, he showed a little promise in the playoffs 2-3 years ago. i've said this many times, but i also think Jordan Hill would be nice next to Moose if somone could convince him to train

As far as cost, remember Okur would probably be a vet min type deal, considering he would still be paid from UTAH. And with his history of injury couldnt command more anyways, so it would be a low risk deal. Jazz have had injury problems with all their players and Memo was never injured here. I'd take a chance on him for the vet min with Kander here.

I also think Kaman would be a great fit and we could potentially add both. I dont know of any other bigs in FA that are better players for the money his contract costs. That would give us a great rotation with Monroe, Kaman, and Memo.

Do we have some young bigs I'm unaware of, aside from Monroe?

I keep reading to let the young guys play, but we only have 1 young big man, lol.. Monroe is a beast, but he cant man the whole frontcourt by himself for 48 min. lol

Both Jerebko and Daye can play the 4. Of course we also have the immovable Maxiell who can play spot minutes.

Let's say we amnesty CV and let Tay walk.

We're left with

Stuckey/Bynum/Knight
Rip/Gordon/White
Daye/JJ/Singler
JJ/Daye/Maxiell/macklin
Monroe/Big Ben/Maxiell/Macklin

I'm sure any Rip/BG trade would involve a Big, but that doesn't mean we absolutely need a 5.

i'm fine with running

Monre and wallace at 5 and JJ/Daye/macklin at 4.

Key is to get youngins minutes, get better draft position. and continue the REBUILD.

i don't get why detroit would want to add players that don't take us over the top and just make us that much more mediocre. We either rebuild or trade all our prospects for players that will make us ocntend. At this point i'm all for rebuild.

DRUMMOND PLEASE!

No more lottery picks...We can't get comfortable at losing, especially after we just drafted a PG...We need to instill winning in his mental...Dumars should make trades and target a Center...We need a leader on this team so why not try to trade for a veteran Center like Okafor? Lopez would be a nice trade if nothing else is available, in addition he's a 7 footer...

^Dvs33 don't try to argue with Jodi, he still thinks we can win a championship next year. Trade BG or Rip, amnesty CV and lets get the lottery train rolling
