Still think Omar Gonzales needs a call. Also, how about bringing Adu back? He played really well at the end of the Gold Cup.

lots of fans of Omar Gonzales
hes a true center mid
but he seems a little slow
if was added, and we were going to start or use him, we would have to use a different formation
or someone is going to get bumped from the starting lineup / lose playing time
bradley, torres, beckham, edu (i cant stand bradley, so if he losses time fine with me)

and i agree about bringing Freddy Adu back
he played very well last time he was the usa team

It really sucks that our probable starting CMs are injured for so long. Holden about 6 more months and Torres about 3 more as well...

i dont know if the MLS guys will be available
when do the MLS playoffs end ?

id like to see Alfredo Morales

chandler - bocanegra - morales - cherundolo
edu
johnson - dempsey - williams
brek - altidore

with that lineup
way more speed and youth on the offensive side
and less possession minded guys
we also have 2 big Forwards
idk if dempsey can handle that roll in the middle
or if williams/johnson r more suited
since williams/johnson play on the same club team
playing them together could be an advantage for us

With that eleven, you will always get destroyed.

Are my eyes fooling me? I could swear I just tuned into the U.S Slovenia game and the U.S had 3 goals in the first half. Good on ya U.S, good on ya.

Changed to a 4-4-2. It was the opposite of a Klinsmann era game, good attacking with a ton of good chances but absolutely horrid defending.
Chandler got caught sleeping a lot in the back, kept Matavz onside for Slovenia's first goal of game. Good in attack
Goodson, same as Chandler but a little better.
Fabian Johnson was tremendous. About as good of a starting debut you can have, found pockets of space around the box. Drew a penalty, decent shot, should've had an assist but Jozy shanked an easy one.
Altidore and Buddle combo up front was very effective, Buddle's holding play was really good.
Michael Bradley came back strong, distribution was nearly perfect and was delivering great balls on set pieces.
Beckerman can't hold the ball worth a crap

i was on vacation and missed both games
thanks to espn3, i got to watch the USA v France game
i heard alot of bad things about that game
what i saw, that was the worst part of the game for us, is that we had 0 real chances to score
what they showed as the formation pre-game
was not what was on the field
it looked like a 4-4-1-1

it also seemed as if, France was winning all the 50/50 headers
i thought that was a strength of our team
also, France was pushing us around some
THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE
since we are not as skilled as the top teams
we have to make up for that by having extra intensity and effort
and i didnt see that
*

maybe we have to look at things differently
maybe we have to stop thinking that we can score goals
and put even more effort towards possession and defense
and try to win games 1-0, or go for the 0-0 tie
yes, thats boring
yes, thats not what the fans want
but we just dont have the goal scorers and creative players, to be a goal scoring team

here are the players used vs France
USA: 1-Tim Howard;
2-Steve Cherundolo, 4-Clarence Goodson, 5-Carlos Bocanegra (capt.), 3-Timmy Chandler;
11-Brek Shea, 8-Maurice Edu, 6-Kyle Beckerman, 7-Danny Williams
10-Clint Dempsey
9-Jozy Altidore

Klinsmann made four changes during the match,
-Jermaine Jones for Kyle Beckerman in the 65th minute (dislike)
-DaMarcus Beasley for Brek Shea in the 71st (really dislike)
-Fabian Johnson for Danny Williams in the 71st (acceptable)
-Edson Buddle on for Edu in the 76th minute (acceptable, but formation/position wise didnt make sense)

1-Tim Howard;
2-Steve Cherundolo, 4-Clarence Goodson, 5-Carlos Bocanegra (capt.), 3-Timmy Chandler
6-Kyle Beckerman, 7-Michael Bradley, 8-Fabian Johnson 10-Clint Dempsey
9-Jozy Altidore, 11-Edson Buddle

14-Danny Williams in for Timmy Chandler, 82nd min
16-Jermaine Jones in for Kyle Beckerman, 90th min
17- Robbie Rogers in for Michael Bradley, 90th min
18-Brek Shea in for Fabian Johnson, 61st min
15-Maurice Edu in for Edson Buddle, 78th min

this was for the game vs Slovenia
we played a more, traditional 4-4-2 formation
diamond 4 in the middle
beckerman DM - bradley/johnson wing Mids - clint attacking Mid

now, the question is
what do we do with Donovan, where do we put him and who gets bumped ?
i also prefer Edu over Beckerman
then, when Torres returns, who does he bump ?

looks like the Keeper and D is almost set
with Goodson the only question
does he possess enough to keep Onyewu on the bench ?
and does Danny Williams have a spot ?
1-Tim Howard;
2-Steve Cherundolo, 4-Clarence Goodson, 5-Carlos Bocanegra (capt.), 3-Timmy Chandler

then the next questions answers, are decided upon what Formation we use
4-1-3-2 or 4-3-3 or 4-4-2
15-Maurice Edu, 7-Michael Bradley, 6-Kyle Beckerman, Torres
8-Fabian Johnson, 18-Brek Shea, 10-Clint Dempsey, Donovan

i think for Forwards, it has to be
9-Jozy Altidore, 11-Edson Buddle
and the only other options would be Donovan and Dempsey

From his time in Bayern and from the German NT (where Löw mostly drew the Xs and Os), Klinsmann is a very offensive-minded coach, and seldom teaches defensive drills. The Bayern defense (midfield and CBs) looked utterly horrible in his FCB stint, so I hope he has learned a few things.

I think we need to stick with a 4-4-2. It just looked so much better. I also think either Donovan or Dempsey should play up top with Jozy. We have more quality in our midfield than up top. I would like to see Depsey up top with Jozy, Donovan and Shea on the wings, Holden and Bradley (I know no one else agrees with this) in the middle. I don't know that Goodson is the solution. I would like to see Omar Gonzalez get some time in the center. Chandler is our best bet at left back. Boca is still good in center but his age is a factor. Cherundolo is the same as Boca. If Cherundolo can't go then I would say Lichaj is the best bet.
Would be nice to see all of our best players healthy and on the pitch together.

what about Buddle ?
he seems to be our best shot taker

lots of people like Holden, but when was the last time hes played ?
he hasnt trained with this group or coach
and i dont even remember how he plays anymore

i have no problem taking a look at Omar Gonzalez

i really like Lichaj and klejstan (spelling)

what happens when Torres returns ?
