I'm getting really tired of this crap. Players need to realize if you're looking out for the future NBA players THEY'RE STILL GOING TO MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. The lowest paid players are making more than freaking doctors. HOW IS THAT NOT ENOUGH MONEY?
These idiots need to go back to college and learn a few things about "economics" that they speak of..Stupid F***S.

Re: Progress was being made until KG showed up (Update) 10-2
Saturday's labor negotiations ended at approximately 1:30 AM EST after eight and a half hours.
According to David Stern, George Cohen made six suggestions for comprimise.
Cohen suggested a 49-51 BRI band, a mini mid-level for two-years at $2.5 million for tax paying teams and recommended no sign-and-trade option for tax payers.
Stern said that the NBA has adopted five of the six suggestions and would accept those terms until the end of Wednesday.
Stern said union attorney Jeffrey Kessler rejected the proposal.
If no deal is reached by Wednesday, Stern has threatened to drop the NBA's offer to 47 percent of BRI and a flex cap.
"We want to allow enough time for union to consider most recent proposal, and we are hopeful they accept it," said Stern.
If the players decide not to accept the NBA's offer, they will drop it to a 47-53 split and a hard cap.

Re: Progress was being made until KG showed up (Update) 10-2
The NBPA is holding out hope that there can be one more meeting with the NBA before the Wednesday deadline imposed by the league, according to sources.
The union believes that a few modest tweaks to so-called system issues could make agreeing to a deal possible.
But given the divide on the owners' side between hardliners and doves, commissioner David Stern's hands may be tied and the union should not expect an improved offer.
Even the dovish owners may be losing patience with the process and would back the hardline plan that faces the players Wednesday. This plan could include rollbacks on existing salaries and the loss of guaranteed salary.
Sources say the union believes coming together for one additional round of talks and agreeing to a deal by Wednesday would benefit moderates from both sides and prevent hardline factions from gaining control of the process.

Kobe Hopes Sides Meet To Avoid 'Nuclear Winter'
Nov 07, 2011 7:22 PM EST

Kobe Bryant is urging the NBA's owners to meet with the players before Wednesday.
“We need for the two sides to get together again before Wednesday, because we’re too close to getting a deal done,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports on Monday. “We need to iron out the last system items and save this from spiraling into a nuclear winter.”
A league source says the two sides are organizing a meeting for Tuesday.

NBA, NBPA In Serious Discussions About Tuesday Meeting
Nov 07, 2011 6:22 PM EST
The NBA is in serious discussions with the NBPA about scheduling a meeting on Tuesday, a day before the deadline set by the league for their latest offer to be accepted.
After Wednesday, the league states that it will reduce its offer to the players to 47% of BRI, with salary rollbacks and numerous new restraints on player contracts and team spending.
No meeting has yet been finalized by the two sides.
Meanwhile, Steve Blake is actively working the phones to encourage union members to push their team representatives to ask the NBPA's executive committee for a full player vote on the league's take-it-or-leave-it proposal. Even though Blake is not advocating a yes vote, there is a swell of support from players who at least want the chance to vote.
Adrian Wojnarowski tweets that in conversations with players and agents on Monday, "there's still much stronger support for rejecting league offer."
Sam Amick reports that Kevin Martin says the players should accept the league's offer.

They're in serious discussions about scheduling a meeting?
Owners: We're willing to do 3pm.
NBPA: That's too late. We will not agree to anything later than 1:45pm.
Owners: We'll go down to 2:30pm, but no earlier.
NBPA: That's simply not fair, and we're tired of being treated like slaves. We're breaking up the union, bitches.

Union Ready To Reduce Share Further To Reach Deal
Nov 08, 2011 5:00 PM EST

The NBPA met with its player representatives and other players on Monday and spoke to the media afterward.
To reach a new collective bargaining agreement, Derek Fisher indicated that the union is willing to come down from its 51 percent offer in exchange for changes to key system issues.
Billy Hunter said he expects to meet with David Stern before 5 p.m. EST on Wednesday. He believes that there is more than mere tweaking of the system components of the NBA's last offer that is required before a deal can be done.
Hunter does not, in practical effect, believe that the NBA will pull its 50-50 offer off the table after Wednesday.
"I'm convinced that they would come back and do a 50-50 deal," Hunter said.

I think we will have a deal done today. Both sides seem to make concessions and while its sad that it took so long this has to be it barring any major stupidity from one of the parties.

NBA, NBPA In Deadline Labor Meeting, 'No Blowups Yet'
Nov 09, 2011 2:47 PM EST
The NBA and NBPA began their meeting shortly after 1:00 PM on Wednesday.
The tax penalties and other rules for tax-paying teams, one source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher, are where the two sides remain at complete odds.
The meeting is comprised of a small group, with Billy Hunter, Derek Fisher, Mo Evans, Kevin Murphy, Ron Klempner and Jeffrey Kessler representing the players and David Stern, Adam Silver, Peter Holt, Dan Rube and possibly Rick Buchanan negotiating for the owners, according to CBS Sports' Ken Berger.

Meeting Ends Without Deal, Talks To Resume At Noon On Thursday
Nov 10, 2011 1:03 AM EST
The NBA and NBPA met for 12 hours on Wednesday, beginning at 1:00 PM EST and concluding at 1:00 AM EST early on Thursday morning.
David Stern said that the two sides have agreed to stop the clock on their ultimatum offer and continue negotiations on Thursday at noon.
"Nothing was worked out today," said Stern.
Stern advised the media not to read much into the situation both for optimism or pessimism.
Derek Fisher addressed the media following Stern.
"We won't be able to elaborate on any details or any significant progress being made," said Fisher. "We can't say significant progress was made, but we'll meet tomorrow at 12:00."
Fisher said he "hopes to be able to finish this out" on Thursday.
"Obviously, we'd have a deal done if the right flexibility was being shown," added Fisher.
According to Billy Hunter, talks can continue for several more days.

Source: Players Would Approve Owners' Latest Proposal
Nov 12, 2011 12:29 PM EST
A source tells Shaun Powell that if given the opportunity, the union's full membership of players would vote to approve the NBA's revised proposal.
"Source told me if full membership votes on the owner's deal, NBA would open for business by Wednesday," Powell writes.
"This the best deal the owners will extend, everyone understands that," said the source.
Powell cites a "silent majority" of rank-and-file players who want to get back on the court and are uninterested in the decertification process or further negotiations with the owners.
