I said best player from last season.

The former two missed half the year and the latter played less than 1/4 of the season in Cleveland. JJ was the best Cavalier last year.

That is not saying a lot considering that makes Sessions our second best player from last season.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Didn't say it was a good thing and frankly, I'm not as high on JJ as some others.

But I don't see the point in replacing him with a guy who has zero offensive game outside of 2-3ft and was projected as a borderline lottery pick in a weak draft just weeks (days?) ago. #workoutwonders I suppose...

So how long before he can come to Canada? Hopefully not a Ricky Rubio 2.0 situation.

Love that he says he's similar to Chris Bosh because neither of them are very strong. That's got to make Raptor fans feel good.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

I am OK with the CAVs draft so far. I see that Mr. Pessimistic is still hyper ventilating in these CAVs draft threads.

Cleveland Cavaliers: B-

Draft moves: No. 1, Kyrie Irving; No. 4, Tristan Thompson; and No. 54, Milan Macvan
Barring injuries marring his career, Irving is going to be a good player at one of the two most important positions in the sport. He is not going to turn the Cavs around anytime soon, but the team now has someone to build around. Thompson is a raw offensive player, but he is a relatively safe pick in that he is a tremendous athlete who will run through a wall for the team. Macvan recently signed a long-term deal with Maccabi Tel-Aviv, so he will not be in the mix for a long time. He is a highly skilled power forward who can become an asset for the future.

Via ESPN:

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS GRADE: A-

Round 1: Kyrie Irving (1, from L.A. Clippers), Tristan Thompson (No. 4)

Round 2: Milan Macvan (54, obtained from Oklahoma City via Miami)

Analysis: The Cavs got the best player in the draft in Irving. There was a temptation to get carried away by taking Derrick Williams No. 1 and then trying to score a player like Brandon Knight at No. 4. But the Cavs kept their eye on the ball and took the best player available.

Will Irving be a star? Maybe not. But he's going to be a starting point guard for a long time in the league and has enough upside to get to a star level someday.

I did think the Cavs reached just a little bit for Thompson. We might debate for years whether the Cavs would've been better off taking Williams or Knight ahead of Irving and

Thompson. But I think history will be kind to the Cavs.

Grade: B-

Picks: No. 1 Kyrie Irving, No. 4 Tristan Thompson, and No. 54 Milan Macvan

He led the Big Twelve in offensive rebounding and blocked shots as well as doing a good job of being aggressive while avoiding foul trouble. Tristan proved to be more than a handful for #2 pick Derrick Williams in their tournament match up and outperformed him in Cleveland in their workout, which likely is what ultimately tipped the scales in Kyrie's favor at 1 and then Tristan at 4.... Would pairing Williams or Kanter with Knight have been a better option? Time will tell.... Macvan recently signed a long-term deal with Maccabi Tel-Aviv, so he will not be in the mix for a long time. He is a highly skilled power forward who can become an asset for the future.

Cleveland’s draft cannot be judged by their 2011-12 season, because they are obviously still going to be bad. The optimism should come from the fact that they have gone from zero or maybe one long-term piece to at least two. With another high lottery pick next year, they should then be able to take a few steps forward.

Round 2: Milan Macvan (54, obtained from Oklahoma City via Miami)

Today on Championshio in Europe Milan had 14 points (6/7) and 8 rebounds, 1 assist in less than 20 minutes from the bentch.
For example best Europe player Tedosic had 15 points and 8 assist
Other NBA players Krstic 10 points, Galinari 15 points, Bargnani 22.

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu ... rbia-italy

I heard somewhere that he is mix of Kevin Love and Vlade Divac, and I couldn't agree with that more. He is a scorer, who can shoot 3's, he is a big body, probably will play PF/C in NBA, but he understand the game and move the ball well so he gets many assists. So practicly Kevin Love with Vlade's rebounding and passing ability.

It's a shame he was only #54 in this draft, I don't know how much chance he will get because of that. But in my opinion he was 5-10 on this draft.

And did someone heard something about his contract ? When he will be available for NBA ?

He was a steal on this draft for sure. ;)

Macvan's defense on Dirk today was outstanding.

So far Milan have

4 games

pts 7.5
reb 5.5
ass 1
stl 0 (something is not right here I watched all games and I saw at least 2 so far :/ )
bls 0
to 0.8
pf 1.3

2 PT FG 55.6%
3 PT FG 20%

minutes 15.5

He can't have substantially more playing time tho (Savanovic play on PF spot also) and Serbia has pretty long bench.

Against Germany he had 5 pts, 9 rebounds, 1 assist in 17 minutes.

He could have even more points but Serbia offence doesnt run trough him, they have Krstic and Savanovic for that (16 and 16.5 points per game).

So far Enes Canter 12.3pts , 5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 1 bl, 0.3 steals, 1.3 to per game in 20.5 minutes. Best game 19pts/5reb/3ass/1bl/22 minutes

Jonas 6.7 pts, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2.3 to, 0.3 stl, 0.8 bl, 3.3 pf per game in 12.7 minutes. Best game
13pts/2reb/3ass/16minutes.

Milan Macvan 7.5pts, 5.5rebounds, 1assist, 0, steal, 0 bl, 0.8 to in 15.5 minutes. Best game 14pts/8rebounds/1 assist in 20 minutes.

Ricky Rubio 2.3 pts, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 assist, 1.5 steal, 0.8 to, FG 26.7% in 17.5 minutes. Best game 4pts, 4assist, 2 steals in 21 minutes.

Milan was #54 others was top 10 on draft, that is really unfair.

Jonas 9,2 pts, 3,6 rebs, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 18/24fg - 75% in 17mins.
Best game vs. Serbia: 18pts, 5 rebs, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 8/9fg - 88,9% in 20mins

Raptors fans have issues. I'm pretty sure that Jonas is not on the Cavs, no point in discussing him here.

Yea my post was before that game.

I watched that game and he played great in offence... but on defence he couldnt stop Krstic... in offence tho really that game he was a beast... hope he show that skills in NBA also.

Macvan so far...

7.1 pts, 4.7rebs, 0.7assist in 15.7 minutes 7 games so far.

Ledeni, even if the Cavs never see Macvan, thank you for providing updates on his games.

I recall hearing that Macvan will likely never play in the NBA, but I am interested to see if that changes in a couple of years. To me, he seems like a poor man's Kevin Love, but more physical.

Partizan beat Real Madrid in Euroleague action today, Macvan led the way with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Serge Ibaka only managed 2 points and 3 boards for Madrid.

That's awesome that he outplayed Ibaka, considering they both the same position. Hell, it would be nice to have a nice young (?) backup 4 that can score and rebound, once we thin out the 4 rotation a bit and maybe get a real C.

Macvan gets a nice mention at the bottom.
