Chuck Hayes or Darko?
IMO Hayes could be signed for the same price as Darko or less, especially with Adelman as coach. So my question is, who's the better starting center? Hayes is thought to be the better rebounder and 1 on 1 defender, Darko is the better shot blocker. What do we need more?

Chuck Hayes is a stud. Our defense would improve with him, but we would still need a shotblocker. I guess Darko/Hayes could be a solid rotation. I guess you don't need your center to be an elite shot-blocker, Hayes is pretty good at drawing charges too IIRC.

I would like someone with a little more size length-wise so he can cover more ground and I also don't feel comfortable putting Hayes in the starting line-up. However, I think I would still take him over Darko.

Hayes.
Whatever we lose in length and shotblocking, we more than make up in mental stability.

Hayes, but it would be nice if we could have both.

Why can't we have both? I think he would be perfect for our team.

Darko will probably go into a deep depression if he finds out he's coming off the bench and will demand to be released and go back home.

Hayes sucks, people really need to get off his nuts. 6'6 center? People act like Houston was any good with him starting. He's a scrub. Darko>Hayes.

Nope. Hayes doesn't need to be an all-star to be an improvement. He's a dependable contributor, which certainly beats Darko.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I hope you're kidding. Ben Wallace was probably closer to 6'6 then his listed height of 6'8..he was one of the best defensive centers in the last 20 years. Not saying Hayes has near the impact of him, but you don't have to be 7 foot to be a great defender in the post. It's all about strength really, and Hayes is built like a tree trunk.

Re: Chuck Hayes or Darko?
It depends on the price tag.
For 2-3 mil $ per year I would gladly welcome him. However, we can't add another backup Center for 4-5 mil. We already have Darko and Pekovic making a combined 9+ mil $ per year. Can't afford another C getting money in that range unless we trade one of the other guys.
Then again is Chuck Hayes really better than Darko? He might be a better one-on-one defender than Darko is but that doesn't take away that most Centers can simply shoot/dunk/layup over him without any trouble in the paint. Darko can at least still contest shots with his size.
I would pass on the Hayes truck and wait for a bigger defensive minded C to become available. Hayes is going to cost a lot of money and won't have enough impact.
Not to mention that he's not the shotblocking presence we need.
Our players get so often burned on the wing by opposing players that take it to the hole that we need a shotblocker in the paint to make up for it.
Just wait for Andrew Bogut to become available. The Bucks will one day finally realize that they're in the middle of nowhere with Bogut. We have enough assets to acquire Bogut and he could really help our team on court while making some additional merchandising money, too.

Wouldn't mind seeing how Adelman handles Darko.... same with Randolph first.

Re: Chuck Hayes or Darko?
I would exchange Darko only for a clear improvement... Gasol, Bogut, Bynum, Horford... not for a guys on witch you can debate who is better Hayes, Varejao...
I would trade Love for all-star SG who plays defence (maybe even with PG abilities)... I think in that case you clear room on SF/PF positions, and upgrade defence on every position (if you compare it with last season). In my opinion that would give wolfs maybe 50:50 score under Adelman.
I wouldn't trade Randolph, Wes, Besley or D-Will yet ... let's see how they are going to perform next season. And Kevin Love is great, but in my eyes he can't improve more... especially on defence, his rebounds are great but that doesn't get you wins and to be honest many of his rebounds are taken for hands of his teammates. After those stats he will probably get overpayed on his next contract so I would trade him for a player that suits wolfs better. I know that many of you guys would say that move is stupid or crazy because he is the most consistant player and you can count on him practicly every game, but I think that move would bring more wins. Also Love in not really that exciting to watch ...

Re: Chuck Hayes or Darko?
There's no comparson between Ben Wallace and Hayes. Ben played could play above the rim which made him an elite shotblocker/weakside defender. Chuck plays strictly under the rim. He's a very good man defender in the post but his weak side defense is non-existant. Slashing gaurds don't have to change their shots at the rim when Chuck Hayes tries to block them.

Hayes is an upgrade over Darko, although that isn't saying much. Darko's more talented, but Hayes is less of a dumbass. Neither one's really an ideal starter.

I don't think Hayes is an upgrade over just starting Love at center. If we go that route, then at least Darko would provide a change up for some difficult match ups.

I agree
I'll say Darko over Hayes. I've kind of grown tired of this trade talk to try and re-distribute our roster to find us a new center and shooting guard. I really want to see what these guys can do with Adelman running the show.

I agree with the last part. We all know that Darko is really talented. Now that we have a competent coach, why not give him one more chance? I assume Adelman will give him a lesser role on offense, thus limiting the chances of Darko causing a turnover. Let him hit the occasional open mid range J or, if he has a good night, let him post up and see what happens.
Also, with a proper defensive game plan, he might be able to avoid early foul troubles way more often than last season, keeping his confidence at a normal level.
Of course, I made this post with a great deal of naivety.

I agree on Hayes not being an upgrade over Love. I think he's an upgrade over Darko, but I don't think it's enough of one that he needs to be actively sought out. I'm fine with giving Darko a year to see if he stops trying to get excessively cute around the rim and/or leaving his feet defensively every time a guy bats his eyelashes and taking stupid fouls. If he did that he'd be a near ideal complementary piece.
