Jays showing interest in Furcal

Jays would like him to play 2nd base. According to MLBTR.

I remember when this guy was an upper tier SS and the JAYS made a run at him.... now he is decent at best

i guess no problem short term as long as AA finds a long term solution eventually. Kelly Johnson was just a fill in for now anyway..... mind you no one is gonna sign him at type-A status so forget the draft pick, no one is gonna touch him on the market, but AA can still trade him at a good price for that same reason.

***on a side note: Aaron Hill signed a 2 year 11 million deal in Arizona today

meh i never have problems with an all-latino middle infield...there is potential for some crazy-ass double plays.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

He's pretty injury prone and mediocre. Maybe slightly above average offensively with a BABIP bounce back, but lacks range defensively and makes a lot of errors. Gun for an arm, though.

I'd be interested at the right price, but there aren't enough SS's to go around so I don't see him having to move positions unless all 30 GMs think he has to. Someone needing an SS who thinks he can still play there will pay more for Furcal than AA will if he's looking for him as a 2B.

This is also my argument for why you don't move Yunel to 2B when Hech is ready and why if MIA signs Reyes we're not likely to be seriously in on Hanley. SS has too much value around the league for it to be cost effective to get one and convert to 2B.

All that being said, Furcal has had so many injuries it may be that no one wants to chase him with real money and I'd take a flyer on him at 2B for the right price no problem. I just don't expect it.

Can I start the "Bring Back ODawg" bandwagon?

Did it ever stop? Amongst Aaron Hill's many sins (not least being the Vince Carter trick of hitting .878 OPS in Arizona, 300 points higher than for the Jays last season), his presence had blocked management from bringing Orlando back. Do you know the guy's been a free agent three times since we traded him for, uh, E5 and Rasmus?

Interest in Furcal is heavy enough that he should get a deal to play shortstop. #Tigers, #BlueJays, #Rockies like him at 2B.
