Jose Molina Appreciation Thread- Signs with Rays

1 year deal with an option.

I guess we get a pick since he was a type B.

Thank you for the development work with our pitchers & JPA. Also thank you for making yourself worthy of Type B and the pick!

I was at the Angels game this year where Morrow got destroyed but Jose almost got a triple. Harrowing stuff. Happy trails!

Thanks, Jose; you're now the fourth mediocre catcher who has been transformed into a supplementary round pick in the past three years. Feel proud.

Molina deserves Rasho-like appreciation. Over the last two seasons, only David Ross has had a higher fWAR than Jose Molina (2.2) among backup catchers. And that isn't even including the great value he brought through pitch framing: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/artic ... leid=15093

They can try to replace the great Jose, but they'll never be able to.

Agreed. We just lost the best backup catcher in the majors.

Solid backup catcher. Good fit for the Rays with their young pitching staff as well.

The Jays were 57-43 the last 2 years when Molina started, 109-115 when he didn't.

He was never offered arb. We're not getting anything.

I was hoping they would bring Molina back. Oh well.

I have never seen anyone on the Jays so smiley than Jose Molina. Everytime he was on the on deck circle, he was joking around with fans having a great time.

Great class act guy like McDonald not a star but a beloved Blue Jay for his hard work. Should improve the Rays pitching staff next year and help them. Hate to see him go but it's nice to get a pick in return I wish him all the best

At the rate he was cutting down Rays' runners last year, I'm not surprised they snapped him up.

He'll be a good fit for their young pitching staff. Appreciate the years he put in here, and always seemed like a good natured guy.

I thought he might sign with the Cardinals.
2 Molina brothers gunning down runners. Managers dream come true.
