OT: Why do people hate Tebow??
Is it his beliefs? Is it his style of play?
To me, all this guy does is win in spite of the media, front office, coaching staff. Sure he doesn't fit the bill as a traditional NFL quarterback but with the game on the he's shown time and time again that he has the "clutch gene, "...Lebron? If he had even a fraction of Tebow's heart/will he'd have at least 2 championship by now.
Thoughts?

This really is not basketball related or even Chicago related.
It belongs on the Denver Bronco Forum.
However, I'll leave it here just in case a bunch of you want to talk about this.

Re: OT: Why do people hate Tebow??
Well, my 23 year old son LOVES him.
To address the question ('cause what the hell else do we have to do?):
- Tebow's kind of a religious fundamentalist. Lots of folks don't like fundamentalism and what it stands for (e.g., right to life).
- Tebow wears his religion like a flashing sign. Many feel it should be more of a private matter.
- QBs should be able to pass. Tebow is a QB who can't pass worth a damn. Regardless of his recent pro successes, lots of purists just can't get comfortable with the kid.
- There are lots of media members who scoffingly dismissed Tebow as a NFL QB. He's making them look bad.
I'm a "Just Win, Baby" kind of guy so Tebow's OK by me so far.

beliefs.
lets not forget Joe Montana is @ 20 pounds lighter and shorter than Tebow.
and was drafted 82nd. No one likes ND except alumni-
he won a lot of games. people like him now.
Tebow is just more proof why SEC players make good NFL pros.

I live in Colorado so I get it full blast. I don't hate him, I'm just intensely tired of hearing about him. Here's the honest truth... he's not good and the team is currently winning in spite of his borderline abysmal play.
This is a short-lived fad. It'll be over soon.

I think this is the #1 issue. People feel like he is winning in a very cheap way, by running the option all game, and completing only a few ugly passes a game. People don't like watching gimmick offenses, cuz its not really pleasing to the eye, and doesn't have long term success. The religious hate is there, but that might be more as a result of his fans deifying him. He's not really a self-promoter, but his fans are very rabid and there's backlash because of that.

Montana and Tebow had a lower draft stock for incredibly different reasons. Montana was not a particularly good college quarterback, but was a prototypical passer. Tebow was a very good college quarterback, but not a good passer. The only thing that remotely ties them together is faith, and that has been expressed in totally different ways in totally different eras. They are nothing alike.

Except that Tebow does not embody the traits that characterize the SEC. He represents an entirely different skill-set and mentality.

The more he wins, the louder talks about him will get.
Tebow has proven that he can pass the ball down field when given opportunities. I feel the the head coach does not put the ball in his hands enough. All game last night they called fullback dives 7 triple option. Once they said enough is enough on that final drive, Tebow took over. Keep in mind he doesn't have the best group of receivers (dropped a lot of passes) granted they weren't perfect passes, they have to help him out.
At the end of the day all you have to know: 1-4 w/o Tebow, 4-1 w/Tebow

I like Tebow. All he does is win. Plus he's on my fantasy team so seeing that 20 yard touchdown run was money! At the end of the day all that matters is the W.

Not at all. A few passes does not merit proof of anything. Especially when you consider the lame duck passes outnumber the somewhat accurate ones.

True, but they haven't beaten any one good yet. They got crushed by real teams in the Packers and Lions. He can win your team some games, but I don't think his style will have long term success unless he dramatically improves his QB skills. He's still young, so that is still possible.

Re: OT: Why do people hate Tebow??
Mostly because of ESPN and media consistently overrating his abilities.. He was overhyped in college and slightly overhyped in the NFL.. Any minor success he might have will literally be overexaggerated and blown up..
Read an article recently that Denver Broncos fans are starting some fad with custom jersey's and having his #15 on it and the last name as "Jesus" on the back of the jersey..
That also might have something to do with it too.. As I type this I can't help but think how hypocritical the last sentence sounds with my avatar.

lol @ the Jesus jersey. Thats pretty dumb.
Tebow is awesome though. He may not pass the ball well but dang the kid's a winner and you can't deny that. It was fun watching him beat the Jets last night.

Re: OT: Why do people hate Tebow??
I can't specifically say why people who hate Tebow hate him.
I can specifically say why Tebow talk annoys me, and it's stuff like this:
Tebow doesn't win in a vacuum. The Broncos have won. They've won against generally bad teams and horrid defenses. They've won with an offense which is still basically putrid. I would not rate Tebow (relative to the performance of an average QB) as one of the top reasons the Broncos have won.
No he hasn't? Despite every defense he goes up against completely gearing to stop the run because he's such an abysmal passer, he still has horrible passing numbers. A typical QB going up against a defense that ignores the pass this much would shred them. Peyton Manning or Tom Brady would throw for 500+ yards every game if the defense played the pass like people play Denver's passing attack.
No he's really not. It's a happy coincidence that makes a good story that the Broncos have done well under Tebow, but Tebow's play itself isn't making anyone who predicted he'd be lousy look bad. He looks abysmal out there. It is painful to watch.
Cam Newton is a guy who's made people who predicted he'd suck balls look bad. His team hasn't won, but then again his teams offense hasn't been deplorable either. You can see actual flashes of outstanding ability.
At any rate, I couldn't care less about Tebow otherwise. He annoys me because his ability [presently] is among the most overrated things I've ever seen at the NFL level. I mean it's simply shocking how overrated his ability is. People are quoting wins while completely ignoring his role in the game. It's like crediting Kyle Orton as a QB bad ass because for a long time his team always won games despite the fact that he sucked balls.
Maybe Tebow develops into a good QB. I'm certainly not discounting the chance of that happening. I also agree with the general feeling that he's a good leader, and if he ever develops NFL caliber passing skills that he has the leadership side down. However, he has a LONG way to go before he's worth really discussing for his NFL abilities.
If he didn't have a strong personality, people simply wouldn't give a crap about him. He'd just be viewed as a project QB who had a few lucky wins.

Re: OT: Why do people hate Tebow??
I don't hate Tebow but I think I hate a lot of people that love him. In the past couple of weeks I have heard, "saying u don't like Tebow is like saying u don't like Jesus" and "congrats Tebow on winning despite being scrutinized & thank you for not being arrested or beating your wife." There are a ton of deeply religious men in the NFL so I guess I don't understand why Tebow stands out. Also, 80% of Players (approx 1400) have never been convicted of a crime so I'm not sure why this makes him special.
I was also confused by a commercial I saw him in recently where he said no one thought he would get a D1 scholorship. I remember seeing something on 60 minutes about him when he was in high school and I'm pretty sure it mentioned he was one of the top recruits that year. He went to Florida for gods sake, there is no way they were the only school making an offer. Same commercial said no one thought he would be a 1st rd pick. That is not how I remember it. There were many who thought Jacksonville would draft him. Most thought he shouldn't be a first rd pick but there wasn't anyone saying he wouldn't be.
Seems like a good human being who does things the right way but it just seems too good to be true. He is being placed on a pretty high pedastle. I can't help but wonder if we are going to see some major scandal from him in the next few years. I hope not but no one is perfect.

Hate is a strong word. I dislike ESPN treating him the way they treated Brett Favre where it's around the clock Tebow talk. But I also understand why people would dislike hearing about his religion.
This isn't the first time Denver has had a very religious pro player anyone remember Chris Jackson? aka Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf who wouldn't stand for The Star-Spangled Banner?
I used to copy his little spin move pull up three he used to do. He would like dribble right and then quickly spin the opposite direction and launch a quick 3. It worked for me. lol

Also, his personality, and even his speech patterns.
Most of all, because he elicits inane thoughts such as:
