I'm abivalent when it comes to Wal-Mart. I live near the Ga. Ave. & Missouri location when one of the stores is planned and I agree with the need for jobs and more options as it relates to reasonably priced food, clothing, electronics, etc. But these need to be "good" jobs at liveable wages with benefits like healthcare coverage. And issues like traffic congestion and making sure a good portion of the jobs go to DC residents need to be in the mix before the city signs off on any of the planned Wal-Marts.
I've heard that the DC government is negotiating with Wal-Mart around these issues. So I'm at least hopeful that Wal-Mart can be forced to agree to "do the right thing" BEFORE they set up shop in DC.
WAL-MART to open 6 stores in DC. Thats right I said 6.

Well they are expanding into urban areas where transplants and newcomers pay inflated rents.

Wes_Tiny_Abe_ hates how DC has changed over the past decade or so, but he is impotent to stop it. So he comes here to bitch about those changes, because it is the only way he can make himself feel better about what he feels he has lost.
Viva le tank! At this pace, it will never end.

I dont need to make myself feel better about anything.
For example...
These ADULTS are paying thousands of dollars in inflated rents and hundreds of thousands of dollars in inflated real estate prices in order to participate in urban snowball fights (and other attention seeking childish behavior) which is something me and my friends did for FREE when we were CHILDREN.
