@WojYahooNBA: The NBA and players have reached an agreement on a deal, source says. The season will start on Dec. 25.
@WojYahooNBA: The NBA and players will make announcement in a joint news conference soon, source says. The NBA is back.
@WojYahooNBA: The players will have to reform the union, and the 450-plus players will still have to ratify a deal to make it official.

NEW YORK (AP)—After nearly two years of bickering, NBA players and owners are back on the same side.

“We want to play basketball,” Commissioner David Stern said.

Come Christmas Day, they should be.

NBPA president Derek Fisher and the players face an uphill battle
The sides reached a tentative agreement early Saturday to end the 149-day lockout and hope to begin the delayed season with a marquee tripleheader Dec. 25. Most of a season that seemed in jeopardy of being lost entirely will be salvaged if both sides approve the handshake deal.

Barring a change in scheduling, the 2011-12 season will open with the Boston Celtics at New York Knicks, followed by Miami at Dallas in an NBA finals rematch before MVP Derrick Rose(notes) and Chicago visiting Kobe Bryant(notes) and the Lakers.

Lebron taking his talents to Dallas to watch the Mavs get their rings. gold!

I didn't believe it at first but when I saw the schedule, DAMN!

LET'S GET THIS THING STARTED!

I wonder how they reached an agreement. if it's as simple as "we want to play basketball.", why did it take this long? owners and players reading each others bluffs first I assume.

I was in the middle of changing when I got a billion text messages about the agreement. Almost ran out of the house naked screaming in joy. That would have been awful but I will definitely be going to the Christmas game.

Dunno what I'd do if I went through the rest of the school year without seeing Kobe's game face or Pierce's annoying smug grin or even hearing Stu Lantz's cheesy in-game commentary. For the past 15 years, NBA games have been my excuse to procrastinate on school work.

I woke up at 4:30 in the morning to take a piss. Grabbed my iPhone and saw an update from ESPN on the main screen. Man.. with this Philadelphia Eagles season, that's the happiest I've been in a long time!!

Was out last night at a concert. Invited a lot of friends to join. Almost mistakenly invited some girls I'm dating to join too. Ended up at the bar having drinks and taste testing wine and totally got hammered like never before. Walked my date back to her motorbike and called it a night.

Woke up at 4AM in the morning and saw the lock out ended on Facebook of all places. That got me giddy and made it the best night ever.

Now I realize I won't be seeing any games since I'm like on the other side of the world. :(
