Mike Miller gets another year to prove that he can stay (relatively) injury free.

There are reports on Twitter that Miami let Miller know through underground channels that he's gone...that's why his house is in the market...

That's because the heat thought they couldn't use MLE otherwise. Now that we can it makes no sense to cut him till next year when we lose MLE however if he does play good I expect him to stay.

Amnesty might be a 1-time only thing, and depending on the deadline, we might have to ditch him this season. Personally, I hope amnesty is there, but good through next offseason. That way Miller can stay on for a championship this season.

I still maintain that if that's the case, we amnesty Bosh and get Dwight to sign. No one would complain about that move...except Bosh. PEACE.

If Haywood and Kaman are amnesty casualties, we should focus on those two...mainly Haywood!

I wouldn't mind having Brendan Haywood or Mo WIllams if they get amnesty and we gonna keep Mike Miller because we signed him due to Udonis Haslem so for us it was a package deal.

Did anyone read Ira's breakdown of the CBA?
It makes it sound like an amnesty is available every year of the CBA...can anyone confirm it? Am I reading this right?

http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_ba ... ument.html

14. Amnesty

Each team permitted to waive 1 player prior to any season of the CBA (only for contracts in place at the inception of the CBA) and have 100% of the player’s salary removed from team salary for Cap and Tax purposes.

Salary of amnestied players included for purposes of calculating players’ agreed-upon share of BRI.

A modified waiver process will be utilized for players waived pursuant to the Amnesty rule, under which teams with Room under the Cap can submit competing offers to assume some but not all of the player’s remaining contract. If a player’s contract is claimed in this manner, the remaining portion of the player’s salary will continue to be paid by the team that waived him.

The way I understand it, Amnesty can be used once by each time over the course of the CBA. When you use that amnesty is up to you. Hence, the Heat won't be facing a reduced MLE or the luxury tax this year, so there is no reason to amnesty MM this off-season.

Edit: and it has to be a contract that was already in place going into this year. So in reality only Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Haslem, MM, and Joel could ever face amnesty on the Heat.

They're closing the amnesty loophole to try and prevent teams like us and the lakers from feasting on the amnesty players. Teams that are over the cap won't be able to bid on amnesty players, so they have to hope no one claims them for any portion of their salary.

LOL! We don't need it anyway. But kinds stupid to put in a rule to allow teams to shed salary, but then try to limit the player movement afterwards. That's not fair to a guy to get waived and then not have complete choice in where he re-signs. I don't see how they manage to get that to work. PEACE.

Thats the hole point. The NBA, & its owners wants total control of every aspect of the game.

The NBA where Communism still lives. :banghead:
