And if the center can also block shots like Joel, then it helps our perimeter guys to take more risks to cause more turnovers. The key to us being a more up tempo athletic team is getting 8-10 rebounds per game out of the starting center.

If the center can also play offense, it's an even bigger addition, because last season we didn't have a single two-way center on the team. If we had the offensive centers in, they didn't defend, if we had the defensive ones in, teams could cheat off them.

Someone like Nene, Dahlembert, or Chandler you can't just not guard on offense. And defensively their rebounding should allow us to run.

If we become a running team, there's not a team in the league who can stop us. The Mavs zone becomes irrelevant because we'll run them off the floor. We have the fastest 2,3, and maybe 4 in the league. And our two and three are literally the most unstoppable forces in the game in a fast break situation. Teams gameplanned last season just out of fear of that. A legit MLE level center and a healthy Haslem irrespective of what else we add should take us from really good to great.

Also if Wade worked on his 3 point shot this summer, and Lebron got a post game. And bosh got strong enough to hold his position on the block a little better--those things would help too.

I hope this year we put the fear of god in these teams.

Great job escapo, I sense you played some ball in your past. I want to add a little something to that. Running a Zone defense makes it tough for that team to rebound, but since we had a weak rebounding frontcourt that was not even a factor and allow teams to run a zone with no consequences. You add a Dalembert and now we are the best rebounding team in the NBA. Thats how big of difference it is going from Anthony to Dalembert for this team.

Dream Scenario for Free Agency

We have 8/15 spots filled, so 7 players to add on.

Obvious ones:
Sign Chalmers to Qualifying Offer
Sign Cole to Rookie Contract
Sign Leon Powe/Juwan Howard and Jamario Moon/James Jones/Rasual Butler/ (BRING ONE OF THEM BACK!) to a Vet Min

Maybes:
Sign Dalembert with the MLE
Sign Grant Hill/Shane Battier with the BiAnnual
Sign Delonte West/TJ Ford/Anthony Carter/Ronnie Price to a Vet Min

Mario Chalmers/Delonte West/Norris Cole
Dwyane Wade/Mike Miller/Eddie House
LeBron James/Grant Hill/Mike Miller/Jamario Moon
Chris Bosh/Udonis Haslem/Leon Powe
Samuel Dalembert/Joel Anthony/Dexter Pittman

No excuses with this team. Samuel Dalembert provides the defensive anchor we needed down low, we have contributors coming off the bench in Grant Hill, Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem, and Erik has had an extended summer to work on improvements for the half-court offense.

With this team, next summer, we would be at 76.8 million at the maximum if all the vet mins are signed to 2 years. This allows us a MLE of 3 years/9 million; However, if you convince two vets to sign one year deals, we will still be able to sign another player with the MLE of 4 years/21 million. Within the next two years with the possibility to sign two MLE capable players, the Heat's future is brighter than we thought along with making Wade, Bosh, and James contracts look that much more smarter.
