Are you serious? It only had record earnings because the Big 3 and the story lines surrounding it along with the Heat facing the Lakers, Celtics, etc.

Except that the previous year also had record earnings.

What was the excuse that year ?

Other than that, the league is very much "meh". Complex trade rules may not be affecting player salaries, but it sure is affecting how the league is ran.

Sure. But that's not what we were debating.

The rules suck. But they're not killing the league from a financial perspective or hurting player salaries, which is what we were debating. I never said I supported or liked the rules.

Based on the latest I heard - Amnesty can not be used on a contract currently in effect. It will only be able to be used on a contract that is signed in the future after the new CBA goes into effect.

It's the exact opposite of that.

Has anyone heard if the trade rules are going to be different on the new CBA?

You're correct in that this is not what the debate is about. My apologies.

Supposedly yes. Matching salary range changed to 140-200% of salary or so.

no one is talking yet til this thing is official.

i know their plan before lockout was trade speights.....sign kwame to start at center and/or share time with hawes.......and figure out what they are going to do with iguodala. They feel that Turner can play SF, if they can land a good SG for iguodala.

i agree with dbodner that if they use it at all, it will be nocioni.

Thad is their top priority to resign too.

They are really high on vucevic but with a short year...and condensed training camp...he probably wont play too much this year.

there was no link..this has been the plan since lockout started...it hasnt been a deep secret......

i already said nothing is happening on any fronts til the thing gets ratified. No one is talking. Tentative agreement means still stuff to get worked out.

I wouldn't be heartbroken if we traded Speights, but to pave the way for Kwame Brown? I'd rather see Hawes/Vucevic play over that bum.

Kwame actually ended the 2010-2011 season very well. he isnt a stud but we dont have the money to acquire a stud. He is better than Hawes in my opinion. HE isnt a true shot blocker.....but he is at least big and can rebound and takes up some space.

I am cool with the move if they get him.

I hope they move Iguodala for true 20 ppg SG...but not sure who they can get. I wouldnt dump him for a collection of role players tho.

We will see what happens.

I wonder if there is any truth to the rumor I remember reading a little ways back that Hawes had hired a nutritionist and was in great shape. I would expect very little, but if he could add some quickness to an otherwise painfully slow game, it could be very helpful since he's probably the front funner to start again thanks to the lockout.

yeah hawes is a pick and pop type shooter...i think he is fine in small doses..20 minutes a game.......if someone gets stupid and offers him a ridiculous restricted contract..let him go..but one year tender at 4 mill is fine...unrestricted free agency next year..he would be gone.

thad is the guy u have to match no matter what in my opinion.

Brand is the type of hard-working, grinding PF that Kwame Brown would need to be with. Brown, if paid properly, would be a solid addition.

Brown, and a Monta Ellis type to be a go-to, you never know.

Sixerfan, what is the market for Iguodala? I would think he would be a solid piece.

GS- Iguodala for Ellis. Iggy would be a very good compliment to Curry.

To the Suns for Carter, Lopez and a pick? Lopez would be a solid rotational 5 going forward and the pick would likely be solid in a deep 12 class. I would love to see Iggy with Nash.

Minny- they have cap room and young players. Iggy with Rubio, Love, etc could be 8th seed material.

I'd be open to Iguodala/Ellis, but that's about the only Iguodala proposal I've heard that you can argue is worthwhile. We should explore every option, but should be in no rush to part with him.

As for Kwame, coming off a season that was considered one of his best campaigns in 8 seasons and only managing under 8 and 7 in 26 minutes.... I don't think he'd make much more of an impact than our younger bigs in Hawes, Speights, and Vucevic. You know what you're getting with Brown at this stage of his career, and its not going to be special enough to be a game changer.

no idea what the market is for iguodala. if they are going to try and trade him we should know soon.

Ellis deal i would do...even tho that dude dont play no defense.

I wouldnt mind someone like Kevin Martin, from the Rockets.

Even if you are a fan of Ellis (Which I'm not), two weeks of training camp isn't enough time to completely change the offensive philosophy to fit Ellis' game.

A name that I think deserves some consideration is Paul Millsap. Perhaps a deal surrounding Iguodala and Millsap/Hayward?
