Right now, we are looking at:

Nash/Brooks?/Dowdell
Dudley/Pietrus?
Hill?/Childress
Frye/Morris/Warrick/Lawal
Gortat/Lopez/Siler

I would give N.O a call and see if they are willing to trade us Ariza for Warrick and Pietrus. West is probably gone from N.O anyway, so Warrick can back up Landry. Pietrus replicates what Ariza does, and he's an expiring.

Re-sign Brooks to 5mil a year, and KEEP LOPEZ.

Nash/Brooks/Dowdell
Childress/Dudley
Hill/Ariza
Morris/Frye/Lawal
Gortat/Lopez

Great defensive starting lineup right there. Play Childress as a slasher in the starting unit, and run our second unit with 4 three point shooters. (Frye/Morris, Ariza, Dudley, Brooks)

Can we take him too then? I don't really like Ariza, I think he's overpaid in a similar fashion to Childress, but I'd consider taking him if it assured us D West in a s&t.

Pietrus, Morris, Warrick, Lopez for Ariza, West

Nash, Brooks
Dudley, Childress
Hill, Ariza
West, Frye, Lawal
Gortat, Frye, Siler

I don't know, that's a lot of guaranteed money locked up on the bench.

Wouldn't trade Markieff without seeing him play one game.

Would New Orleans bite at Okafor and Pondexter for Pietrus + Lopez + Warrick? Okafor could play the PF, with Gortat at C giving us the bigger and best defensive frontcourt in the league!

Nash/Brooks/Dowdell
Dudley/Childress
Hill/Pondexter
Okafor/Morris/Lawal
Gortat/Frye/Siler

I know Okafor's contract is a big one, but it's not bad a for a double-double big man, who gives you strong defense and rebounding every night..... Not to mention a couple of thunderous dunks.

And the amnesty/ stretch provision could really benefit in dealing with Hamilton's expiring deal next year if we go into rebuild.

Who knows, Rip could do a Turk and accept a buyout next year in order to get off that crappy Pistons team.

..

Man this lockout is driving me insane :p

We'v talked about Chills being something of a Marion-type for us - good defender, good rebounder, good finisher at the rim, hideous outside shot. Shawn was very special but one thing Childress had more than Marion did is ability to drive.

So -

Nash
Duds
JChill
Morris/Lawal
The Gortat

with Morris, that's three outside shooters (not the four we prefer) but better defense than we've had in some time. I agree with Frank that this is a nice lineup that can make some noise. I still think we need a scorer - if we ask Nash to do that too we will get a situation with four guys standing around watching Nash dribble

the bench mob is Brooks, ???, Grant, Lawal/Warrick, RoLo/Siler:

Nothing like what we had 2 years ago - this year the bench is our weak spot. But who knows what may happen in the post-CBA signing frenzy?

why yes, good point

Duh ......

I'd use Frye on the second squad. That does make us better, doesn't it?

Ignoring the thread's topic... I'll weigh in...

I dont understand why Lawai is included on this roster. I think he stays in Europe and gets court time. As discussed elsewhere, we have 8 guys inked. We add Hill and Brooks, which seems to be the consensus, that brings it to 10. I do not think Dowdell, Siler, and Lawai are guaranteed for some reason.

We'll likely run with 13, as in the past. so I'd add Siler and Dowdell, leave Gani where he is and then pick up a contributing PF free agent... may be 2 ??? We have to improve, and free agency is the likely route. Or may be there is an outside chance for a pietrus/Lowpez deal ???

So much for the Sarver bashing here.

I imagine we'll make a run at vet min players...Redd has no knees and he couldn't guard a chair even when he was healthy, but I can see us trying to pick him up.

Nash / Brooks
Redd / Dudley
Hill(will he stay?) / Chilly
Frye / Warrick
Gortat / Lopez

Pietrus, Markieff, Dowdell, Lawal, Siler are out of the rotation. Lawal will probably stay in Europe. Gentry might run with 9 instead of 10, so I can see Chilldress(again) or Warrick being out too.

If Hill leaves, then Chilldress might get the start at SF. If he leaves and we don't sign Redd(or someone similar), then I guess we run with the following 9:

Nash/Brooks
Pietrus/Dudley
Chilldress
Frye/Warrick
Gortat/Lopez

I find it interesting that five teams wanted the lockout to end quickly the obvious where Miami, the Lakers, Oklahoma thunder, New York, and the surprising the Phoenix Suns wtf? Our idiot of an owner wanted the lockout to end quickly when at the start he was a hardliner and now he just wants it to end as quickly as possible what gives ? No its not because he was worried about the 2012 draft pick and during the lockout he was quoted as saying that he wanted the MLE back so he could by his wife a new designer purse . So for an owner who is suppose to be spending to build a good team here from what I have seen he has done everything to save money since 2009 and claimed he wanted to make a play in 2012 free agency but that is what Sarver wanted us to believe he obviously doesn't care about winning just making money . So why does an owner with a team that is likely to finish in the bottom 12 and has a fan base that should now be disgusted because of the lockout in such hurry to start the season it doesn't make any sense ? Could it be because he can't afford to miss an entire season which means he doesn't have much money left and if this true how the hell can you rebuild the Suns into a contender without spending some of your own money. The answer you can't I am welling to bet than in 2012 free agency he will sign mopre the same type of players and by 2013 when the criticism and hate toward his unbearable he will finally sell the team. Because its obvious that Sarver is broke and will not be able to go even slightly over the luxury tax and may be barely able to spend 90 percent of the cap that will sart in 2013 my prediction is he will be force to sell the team in two years !

Probably the worst starting backcourt in the league. No offence, but I think Dudley should start over Redd, just because of the fact he has size, knees, and defence.

Isn't Brooks in China and he can't get out? Who is going to back up Nash this year?
