Not all that shocking. The writings been on the wall for a while now, he lost that lockeroom last year.

We'll see what Hunter can do with this team.

Should have been gone awhile ago.

Something needed to be done. High expectations to win it all the last couple years and just turned into a huge fail.

And they are now all of a sudden 8th this year?

Yeah, made sense.

I feel like he was the scapegoat in Washington. I think Ovie needs to take some heat on this. He's been average over his last month to month and a half. Boudreau should take most of the blame but he should easily find a job somewhere either as a head coach or a assistant head coach would be funny if at the end of the year Paul Maurice ended up in Washington and Boudreau in Carloina

So does this mean Ovechkin starts trying again, now that he got what he wanted? He should have the C removed and put it directly on Laich.

Hunter is a hard ass, so he should snap back into shape

I can't wait for 24/7 to return, but I have no idea how it'll be able to top the first one. Couldn't have worked out any more perfectly with those two. Penguins starting that month riding high, the Caps were mired in a losing streak. It built up to the Penguins losing Crosby and the Caps winning the WC. Plus, Boudreau and Bylsma were awesome.

One of the best TV shows I've seen in awhile.

Hunter is an upgrade over Boudreau? Hardly.

When your captain doesn't try, and Boudreau takes heat for benching him...it's a lose lose situation. Unless Hunter works wonders, it's not going to make a difference until someone on that team calls Ovechkin out.

Well Ovechkin is signed for like 10 more years so he's not going anywhere. You trade him, you lose the fanbase. Period. He brought hockey back to DC.

Bourdreau should have been canned last year. He didn't get it done, team had loads of talent and underachieved.

He doesn't need to be traded. He needs someone in the room that isn't afraid to call him out on his lack of effort at times, same goes for players like Semin. Whether it's a veteran player or coach, he needs a kick in the pants.

Losing to the Blues 2-1 is not the best way to start afresh

Not trading Semin a year ago, and signing him to a 1-year extension was a terrible move by McPhee.

The Caps should absolutely unload Semin while they have the chance

Well that was fast. Ducks fire Randy Carlyle and hire Boudreau.
