anyone who thinks Riley would trade Haslem is crazy.

after taking 2 paycuts and having our #1 franchise guy, DWade literally call Lebron and Bosh after getting off the phone with UD as Haslem left the arena bidding farewell thinking he was on his way to Denver or Dallas in Summer 2010, and told LBJ and CB "We need to take EVEN less to keep Udonis, WE MUST DO THIS" you are crazy. Wade took even less then the other two because he wanted to put it in UD's pocket.

unless we are getting a bonafide All star (D12, Cp3 etc) and Udonis was part of the package it would make Wade and even Lebron absolutely despise the decision.

you ask Wade if he would rather have Nene-Big 3-Rio without UD in the heat of battle or UD-Big 3-Rio he takes UD...we all take UD...

i mean, do we remember the spark he provided in the CHicago series? when he is healthy that is a weekly occurence.

only a stat geek who has never been on a basketball team with a guy with the heart and leadership of a guy like UD thinks about trading him for just "any" upgrade. Nene is not that guy folks.

I want/use to think the way you think, but I must be crazy =- Riley will ship his azz out in a heart beat. I don't believe he won't

I understand that the NBA is a business, and anyone is tradeable for the right price. But, it isn't very often that you see NBA players who will never command close to a nine figure salary, choosing to forgo a pay cut multiple times. Haslem has shown more loyalty than any other player on this squad, and I'd be very disappointed in the organization if they cut ties with him.

I'm not saying you that he won't, but what has given you this impression that Riley will trade him? Is it the article on Miller?? Since many on the GB are making a big deal of it, I guess you are also swayed into thinking that Riley is not loyal to his players. Who has he traded like this (after the player gave the team a discount) in order to get (marginally) better?

I'd honestly be pissed since Haslem is my favorite player, and has been for years. They can trade the rest of them for all I care, but leave Haslem alone. Whiny players piss me off.

I would be pretty pissed off, even if it were for Dwight Howard or Chris Paul. That's not rational, but like many Heat fans I'm big on Haslem.

I'd probably even bash whoever we acquire for a while.

THIS is the part that I am commenting on - I have know idea(and never do) of what this team plans to do regarding trades - BUT - PAT RILEY would trade UD to get who he wants and I would be disappointed.

I think there's an unspoken (if not explicitly spoken) agreement not to trade away someone who willingly sacrificed and took a smaller contract to stay.

Only way it's OK is if Riley explicitly told Haslem at the time, "I will not give you any special no-trade consideration, and will actively look to take advantage of your cheap contract as a trade chip."

I highly suspect that Haslem took less money on the condition he wouldn't be traded away, and that if Riley had refused such a condition, that Haslem would have signed elsewhere for much more money.

That would be a heck of a sales pitch lol. "I will not give you any special no-trade consideration, and will actively look to take advantage of your cheap contract as a trade chip."

I highly suspect that Haslem took less money on the condition that once he retires he will have a "job" within the Miami Heat organization.

I would have no problem with trading Haslem for someone like Nene. The only problem is Denver would never trade Nene for Miller and Haslem.

Also some people who are against are saying they would rather have Dalembert. But that isn't close to a sure thing. If Dalembert signs elsewhere and the decision becomes Haslem and crappy center or Nene that makes it even easier for me.
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

To say Pat wouldn't trade UD is just being naive and someone trying to fool them selfs. If the right offer comes UD is gone in a heart beat. Remember UD has been in trade rumors for a while and where there is smoke there is fire.

Objectively out of our trio Bosh would be happier to have a real center to play with than UD even with all the hustle and grit he brings. Lebron just wants to win a ring. Wade would be the player hurt the most. Spo would be devastated

Trading UD is almost as bad as the Knicks signing Felton who came as a FA because he liked NY, making him captain and trading him first chance they get.

If we did that I would be pissed.

+1. Would basically confirm that all our talk about being a family and all that mess is nothing but lip service.

We need a legitimate center that can play consistently over the next 3-5 years

If UD brings that he's gone

He wouldn't/shouldn't be more than a 20 mpg player if we had a center anyway

Return to Miami Heat
