You guys forgot .. if we land Rondo he could make us a playoff team and could erase us for a lottery pick .. so no point of saying we are getting Barnes if we get Rondo .. but it would be scary if we tank this year with Rondo and get Barnes/AD/Drummond

We need to stop talking Rondo trades cuz I really don't see the Celtics batting an eye on anything we would be willing to give up (ie/ our 2012 pick) unless (although very unlikely) as an outside chance consider Ed Davis + Bayless + 2013 UNprotected...

If there is ever a chance to land Rondo for Bargs and a top 3 protected pick i go for it.
Throw in Barbosa for JO if need be and build defence first.
Use the Amnesty on Jose. Pick up Roy from the new Amnesty rule and spend big next off season:

Rondo/Bayless
Derozan/Roy
JJ/Klieza
Amir/Ed
JO/Alabi

Hopfully we end up being top 5 or 6 in the east. JO expires this year and we have major cap space to spend in the offseason. Bring Back Weems and throw major cash at Dwight. Round up the roster wit vet players like Carter or Ray Allen.

Rondo/Bayless
Derozan/Roy/Weems
JJ/Carter/Klieza
Amir/ED
Dwight/JV

Just weak at 3ptrs but overall we are a defensive nightmare.

You're high if you think Howard joins that team....

Although not bloody likely at all; the only way I see Howard even finding time to skim over it is if we amnesty Bargnani, KEPT our 2012 and gave up our 2013 unprotected + Davis + Bayless....even then I think he laughs it off.

Miller or Gilchrist (cuz Rondo takes us out the bottom)/Johnson
Valanciunas/Amir
Howard/Alabi

I hate even writing out that line up cuz it's so ridiculously far fetched.

Bargnani and Barbosa at midseason for Carlos Boozer and a draft pick or two. Amnesty Boozer, tank like crazy.

Watch as Bargnani makes Chicago suck, thus improving those draft picks' value.

Be in the running for Davis/Drummond with our own pick.

I like Rondo but if we're calling Derozan our SG of the future then forget it. Have him sent to a third team and try to send Bargnani out as well

Chris Broussard says he think the Knicks will get either Paul or Howard, my question is who do they have on their team other then Amare and Melo?

It'll probably be Fields, Douglas, the ghost of Chauncey Billups and a ton of picks from next decade.

He is being shopped hard. As Woj suggested, they might be trying to get enough pieces to then turn around, and deal for Chris Paul. But, it isn't as if Rondo is chopped liver here - this guy is an All-Star PG as well.

what's with the Rondo love here? He's a top defensive player at his position only because the other players on his team compliment his abilities very well. You put him on the Raps, and he's a defensive sieve like the other two PG's we have. However, if you keep Davis, and look to deal Bargs/Amir, etc. while keeping our 2012 pick, then yes, do it.

i said this 3 years ago - they should've traded rondo for nash. now it may be too late but i would STILL make that deal if i were the celtics.

It's pretty realistic IMO. Still, I think NO can get a better deal for CP3. Also, I don't quite see the point of a 1 year Westbrook rental, he'll be gone ASAP unless we at least make the conference finals.
Okafor and Ariza fit very well here, though.

We'd own Westbrook's rights, so we could match any and all offers for him in free agency.

A young core of:
Wesbtrook
DeMar
J.Johnson
Ed/Amir
Jonas

could be pretty good. Of course, it would be hard to add other talent around those guys because we'd be too good to suck it up in the draft, and having Okafor/Ariza/Kleiza/Jose will make it tough to add more talent around them (I'd actually prefer trading/amnestying Okafor instead of Jose, because of the longterm cap consequences of his deal)... but that's a pretty good start imo. James Johnson is a bit of a weak link there, but we can't fix all of our problems right away. We'd better trade Bayless for something though, because I think he would cry if he had to play behind yet another superstar guard.

I think New Orleans gets garbage for Paul in this deal. They would want Westbrook.

Damn I can't believe Rondo's getting shopped so hard but I would send anything else BUT our 2012 + Jonas to get him....I hope Colangelo is begging to trade Davis + Bayless + 2013 unprotected + 2012 2nd rder to them....problem is I bet the Celts would want DeRozan + Davis + 2013.
