Nets Fans from NJ...

Post#1 » by xam2k7 » Wed Nov 30, 2011 10:19 pm

I'm sure this topic has been discussed before and maybe I missed it... but I just wanna get a feel as to how the rest of us Nets fans actually from NJ feel about the move to Brooklyn. Do you feel betrayed? Are you excited as to what the move could potentially bring?

If there is another topic about this could someone send me there?

Thanks guys, Im pumped for next week cant wait for the season to get started!

I don't feel betrayed, the move is completely understandable to me. Although obviously, I would have preferred for the team to stay and be successful here. But NJ has never had a good attendance record, and the move to Brooklyn should help the Nets move out of Knicks' shadow (by taking their fans).

To be brutally honest, the only thing keeping me a fan of them is the name Nets. If that's gone in the future, so am I.

I wouldn't say that it would stop me from being a fan, but you're somewhat right. The identity of the team is very important to remain as a fan, and since they've kept the Nets name, it makes things easier for us NJ fans.

It is very disappointing to not have a NJ team to call your own anymore, but given the lack of interest and poor attendance records, you can't really blame them from moving. I will still root for them in Brooklyn and treat them as my NJ Nets always!

This move is good for the franchise. As a NJ native~ they'll always be the NJ nets to me.

Brooklyn Nets / NJ Nets ~ they're Nets :) My team.

On another note~ scrub knicks posters saying how the Nets are a garbage franchise.
The Knicks haven't sniffed the post season ever since they got swept by us and nearly a decade later only to be swept again by Boston. Having one of the leagues highest payroll the past decade all the while makes it that much funnier. Epitome of a garbage franchies for sure.

I totally 100% support this move. It is for the better of the franchise, and I am a Nets fan. I want to see my team being the best they can, and the move to Brooklyn will make them better. New Jersey doesn't deserve a basketball team. Even when we were good, the arena was half empty. Tickets are incredibly cheap, and people won't even go to games. I don't want to hear we suck or anything, because if you're not going when we're bad, you're not even a real fan anyway.

Also, I hate when people say they won't follow the nets or will hate them because they are moving and abounding New Jersey. They are moving to Brooklyn, NY....a half hour away. They aren't going from Seattle to Oklahoma. The people who say this stuff is the people who don't go to games which is why we are moving. Maybe if you guys showed up, we could support a team here. You can still go to games in Brooklyn, so it's not like they are moving across the country.

I can't wait until opening night in Brooklyn. I live in central NJ, and I will definitely be making it out to a handful of games. Not as much as I was able to when they are playing here, but I'll sacrifice going to a few less games and my team being a lot better.

I live in NY and I'm a nets fan. Why can't some New Jersians (??) root for the Nets when they move to Brooklyn?

I have no idea, and it's really stupid. They've been complaining from behind their computer instead of going to games.

LOL for real.

I'm proud of my state and was sad to hear they were leaving back when, sure I was pissed, but I got over it and also realized Brooklyn is a hop skip and a jump away.

I have friends that go on and on. These were pretty dedicated Nets fans and as soon as the team was sold to Ratner they just abandoned ship and since then just hate on the Nets so hard.

I'm like dude, you root for a football team that plays in the Meadowlands and is called the New York...., I'm like dude, you go to the Bronx or to Queens to see baseball teams you love, dude you live in NJ and are a **** Rangers or Islanders fan, yet you abandon the Nets cause they're going to Brooklyn?! I'm like dude, you're a **** Cleveland Indian fan and you've never been further West then Philly! And you, you're a Miami Dolphins fan! Dolphins?! Really? How?!

And then I tell them, without Brooklyn, this team would forever be the Clippers of the NBA with the exception of about a 7 year run. If they move a team back to NJ they'll be as unwatchable as the Bobcats. Would you buy season tickets for the Bobcats? Would you buy tickets for the Bobcats? And they're like, who are the Bobcats? :blank:

Sorry, but if the Knicks were to ever leave New York for New Jersey, and become the Trenton or New Jersey Knicks... I'd become heartbroken. Thankfully that'll never happen considering the fact that the Knicks are New York; the mecca of Baskebtall, and Manhattan is the heart of New York City. You can never build another Madison Square Garden. Brooklyn won't keep the Nets name for long though, believe that, NJ fans have been left behind; with no basketball team to call their own. No real Knicks fan, with NY heart, would ever become a fan of another team other than the Knicks to begin with. The Nets are on the verge of becoming an epic failure in NY.

Just to let everyone know, this guy has been perma-banned from every single Jets message board on the internet multiple times on different accounts and is the biggest most clueless homer on the internet.

This is his rap video, he's on the right:

I'm heartbroken that you decided to destroy an entire genre of music though one YouTube video.

Every point you've made in your post is balls & the fact you felt the need to post about the Nets moving to Brooklyn shows that your shook. Just think how annoying it's going to be for you if we sign Howard to go along with Deron.

The Brooklyn Nets are coming, be afraid.... be very afraid muhahahaha

After this season I wont have a favorite basketball team anymore. I will never be able to support a sports franchise based in the state of New York. I just cant do it. If anything I would be a fan of the 76ers because it is such a better city and I already like the Eagles, but the thought of that right now just irks me...... I hate New York and that includes Brooklyn.

As long as they're the NETS i'll be a fan.I would rather them stay in NJ and play at the Rock though.I think if the team is winning more people will show up to games because its a better location than the swamp. If the Nets were playing at the Rock during the Kidd years, i think the attendance would've been a lot better.Believe it or not we made a lot of knew fans in NY that would've came to more games because of the train access.Yes a lot of those fans in NY jumped ship when Kidd left because lets face it,the Tri-State area loves a winner. The Nets know they need a winner going into Brooklyn to be successful.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
