Post#1 » by youngthegiant » Wed Nov 30, 2011 2:20 am

Denver trades: S&t nene, S&t afflalo

minnesota trades: wesley johnson and beasley or williams (you guys choose) also we will take any bad contract you guys no longer want.

minnesota roster

rubio/ridnour
afflalo/ellington

kevin love/ anthony randolph
nene/ milicic

should be a playoff team

denver roster

lawson/miller
wes johnson/forbes
gallinari/ hamilton
beasley or williams/faried

I wouldn't hesitate to accept this trade.

Wes, Beasley, Hayward for Nene and Affalo = :droop:

I can't see the Nuggets doing that even if Nene and Affalo both decided they would play in MN.

Um yes?

Wes J & Beasley for Nene & Afflalo anyday. You can have Memphis/Utah 1st too if you want.

its actually not that bad for denver considering that nene is on the verge of leaving and afflalo while a great player, will probably be in his 30s by the time we are able to recover from the mess that carmelo left us with. so overall i think this deal helps both of our teams.

You won't find too many people here who hate this trade. Still not sure why Denver is offering Afflalo though.

I don't think any MIN fan would decline this. I don't think any other Nugget fan would accept though. I could see us adding in Randolph instead of Hayward, and throwing a couple firsts in there. That might start the conversation off better. But yeah sure, you can have 50 cents for that dollar.

But we do know how good Nene is; all-star level talent. Add in Afflalo (who we also don't know how good he can be) and I'd say we win short-term hands down, and probably long-term as well unless both of them turn out to be better than what Afflalo/Nene already are. I'm not saying it couldn't happen but that is the kind of chance I'd love to take.

Not to mention that it helps us out at our two glaring positions of need and creates a really solid potential starting 5. We still have a ton of young talent to grow with too. This would be an ideal move that just never happens in the NBA.

We would trade one of them, so we still have a talented small forward left. The rest of the deal is just too good to not take.

I think you're giving up Afflalo for the sake of giving up Afflalo. He doesn't have a whole lot of upside left at this age, but he's still a pretty solid player.

I think he's 25-26. He was a 2nd round pick by Detroit a few years ago, IIRC. He really improved his dribble-drive game last season and become a more consistent threat from the outside. I call him the "ultimate role player". He plays good defense, has decent handle to break down the d if they rush out on him because he's a great shooter...and he performs in the clutch.

He's 26. Would be older than everyone except Miller and Ridnour.

Especially considering Iggy and Okafor are around their late twenties/early thirties. Afflalo should be playing his best basketball the next couple of years. A contract now would end when he is around 30 which isn't bad.

This isn't a "bad deal" for Denver. Nene is an unrestricted free agent and wants more money than Denver wants to pay him. Afflalo is a RFA and, while a solid enough rotation player, nothing special. Wes Johnson on his rookie deal has more value than Aflallo and Nene is walking for nothing. So this is basically Denver getting value for nothing as they don't want to pay either of those players what they will make in free agency.

I would wager a lot of money that Denver is going to do their damndest to get both guys to re-sign, especially with half their team stuck in China.

Afflalo essentially is the Nuggets only shooting guard, so I can't imagine him being traded especially considering that he's RFA. There are tons of teams that are willing to trade for Nene and Afflalo who can create a nicer package, and no guarantee that Nene even wants to play in Minnesota.
