Superstars cant win alone, so they need to join forces?

Post#1 » by TheDunc » Thu Dec 1, 2011 7:51 pm

This is ridiculous, why do superstars feel the need to join other superstars? The question is pretty simple. Seriously we have the all star game if they want to play with each other. All these superstars want to win a ring the easy way. I loved the nba back in the day when teams had a star and great role players. Players these days have the wrong mentality. They should all be wanting to compete hard against each other. Not join forces and just win because of an abundance of talent. The nba looks like a watered down league when only a quarter of its teams have all the talent. If all these stars chose a team each, we would be in for some great competition every night.

^ Yeppers.

I'm still trying to figure out what the "Super teams" have won?

Guys clicking up like this isn't a guarantee of a title, it's a guarantee of having a better shot maybe but not a title.

Oh yeah these players nowadays are crazy
Imagine if Jordan and Magic and Bird played nowadays! OMG Jordan would stay in Cleveland with Mo Williams and wouldn't dare team up with Magic!

Add a modified franchise tag or something like there is in the nfl. Then if they dont want to play while on contract they can rot like carson palmer.

mainly via their GM and FA, not through "babied" egos talking amongst one another where they will team up...

All those teams were built through the draft.

The NBA has always had super teams. The only thing that's changed is that today there are more fans of small market teams to complain about them.

A team with 3 Hall of Famers is not a super team?

You mean back in the day when Lakers had Kobe and Shaq or back in the days of Jordan and Pippen. Maybe even further back when the lakers had Magic/Kareem/Worthy or the Celtics had Bird, McHale and Parish.

The NBA has never had a period where it wasn't dominated by superteams. The main problem is that the super teams were usually made by great drafting and great trades as opposed to players signing outright.

Not possible to win alone in todays league. If it was, the Cavs would have done it. You need 2-3 major stars and good role players, or deep, stacked talent top to bottom like the Mavs.

Either one is hard to attain. Good luck in Toronto.

You're right. They can't win alone.

Why would they not join forces?

Most have had incompetent management and were never surrounded with the appropriate pieces so rather than waiting their entire career for that to happen (KG), they should leave early and join up with other great players. Why do people have a problem with this? Yea its tough being a Wolves fan since they won't come here.. but I do not blame for them teaming up with other superstars and trying to win championships. How can you blame them? No one can win it alone. NO ONE.

It's really a shame. They talk about raising revenue, yet yet none of them is willing to make ANY sacrifices so that they can do so.

I just hope Stern and the Magic owner stand strong and DON'T trade them to the big markets.

Obviously it would depend on what you classify as a "superstar" team. The meaning of "super team" has become something like "3 super stars teaming up through free agency to win a championship".

The Spurs also have 3 HOFer's, but I wouldn't really call them a "superstar team", you know?

Not when they are 35-37 when they join and never made an allstar team on the team they joined and not when the same player leads in virtually every statistical category and wins all the awards.

I would say a superteam is when others on the team end up with league or finals mvp or leads in PER or Win Shares as well.

no one wins alone, thats why they team up duh. if you arent fortunate enough to have star players drafted by the same organization, like durant and westbrook, then obviously youre going to have to join someone else, or have them join you.
