NJ is on the verge of becoming an epic failure in Brooklyn.

Post#1 » by NYK StateOfMind » Fri Dec 2, 2011 1:27 am

What an awful turn of events for not only Net fans, but also the Nets franchise as a whole.

NJ just gave up a very talented rookie last year in Derrick Favors (a lottery pick at that), a very solid PG in Devin Harris, what turned out to become an 11th overall first round draft pick to Golden State (who just drafted a very good shooting guard in Klay Thompson) and guess what? The Nets gave it all up for nothing.

So much for the dream of Williams loving life on the East Coast and attempting to lure Dwight Howard to the Nets. Williams doesn't want anything to do with the Nets, he never wanted to play for the Nets, and he's just came out and made it known; that he will not sign an extension with the Nets; opting out to become a FA during the offseason. What an awful turn of events for this soon to be Brooklyn franchise, these turn of events could end up setting an already horrible franchise back by a good 5-10 years.

Dwight Howard doesn't wanna play for the Nets, Carmelo wanted nothing to do with NJ last year, and now Williams has also made it known, that he now wants nothing to do with this franchise.

What happened to Jay-Z supposively landing, and bringing all of this elite talent to his home of Brooklyn? Too funny.

What an epic failure moving to Brooklyn. They're on the verge of becoming an NBA laughing stock for many of years to come. The Nets will never be the Knicks, Brooklyn will never be Manhattan ala the heart of New York City and nothing can ever compare to Madison Square Garden.

While they've lost Favors, Harris and an 11th overall draft pick all for nothing, the Knicks are on the verge of featuring a triple threat of CP3, Melo and Amare. Damn it feels good to be a Knicks fan again.

This is why you can't base a fanbase on one particular poster, Knicks fans get a bad rep only because of a few bad apples.

To answer the OP, just because Deron opted out doesn't mean he won't resign.

Favors is not really all that good, and the 11th overall pick would probably end up being mediocre. Williams never said that 100% he wouldn't re-sign with the Nets. If the Nets could land Howard, you don't think Williams would re-sign? It could end up bad for them, but if I'm the Nets GM, I am moving Williams if I can't acquire Howard by the deadline. Worst case scenario, Deron Williams wants to leave, but he'll need the Nets to sign-and-trade him to get the most money. The Nets can then get some assets back.

Because of what LeBron did last off-season, none of the superstar players want to end up being the Ewing of the 90s Knicks to the Heat's Jordan-Era Bulls. They want to fair shot to compete and it's not going to happen just playing by yourself with subpar teammates. Recent history shows your team has to be built like the Heat or the Mavs to compete, not like the current Hornets or Nets or pre-Melo Knicks.

Don't care, as long as the Net tickets stay as dirt cheap as they are now. Another opportunity to see a Knicks game for 1/8 of the price and still have a somewhat Knick's home game atmosphere because the majority of the crowd are Knicks fans.

I like when the Knicks have 43 home games a season instead of 41.

Don't understand the venom for the Nets franchise. Heat? Yeah Bulls, lol of course. But I don't hate the Nets and I swear I actually felt a little bad about this thing with Deron.

I don't like the hate that comes our way from some Nets fan, mind you, but I won't laugh in their face when something looks like it could be going very wrong for them (and it's not even a sure just yet).

They're basketball fans just like us. Ease up a bit on some of these guys who likely share the same baseball or football team with you and I.

if we traded for cp3, he would also opt out next year to maximize his bird rights contract. That's exactly what deron is doing right now.

that's not to say, if they gave deron max money without any secondary all-star signing, then yeah, Nets become a huge failure. G

Wishful thinking on your part. It's obvious that you're in denial of the future of a soon to be laughing stock Nets franchise.

What's happened to all these supposively elite stars that were on the verge of following Jay-Z to his home town of Brooklyn? It hasn't happened yet, and chances are; it's looking more and more likely that it'll never happen.

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire all went with MIA/NY over NJ. Chris Paul has made it known that he wants a trade to the Knicks and even Dwight Howard has made it known he'd rather play for the Knicks when compared to the Nets. Now Deron Williams is on the verge of either getting traded from the Nets (because he wants nothing to do with them) or leaving as a free agent at the end of the season.

Williams never WANTED to become a Net. He was forced there. Big difference.

im a die hard knicks fan but i have to disagree with this post. im pessimistic about my team. i think we are entering a 5 year period of salary cap hell and first round exits while the nets are entering a period of, at the very least, salary cap freedom. and with that comes the possibility of something good.
