#1pick please.
- Josh Smith was 265 and you can tell he was 265 by his face.
- Josh doesn't rely on athleticism as much as Shawn Marion did and "had more talent". The next day Josh Smith shows up having lost 30 lbs.
- Steve Nash is not a PnR pg etc
You hand out sig material left and right. You can tell how how much he weighed by his face and you estimated 265.
Dwight, Dalembert Bogut weigh 265... You hand out sig material left and right.

Did you just say Steve Nash isn't a PnR PG?

You are clearly the troll of the year. No one likes you. You spam the board with crappy players like Travis Leslie and Jon Leuer and trading them for Al Horford and Josh Smith. You never make sense. You ramble all the time. You have zero knowledge of the game. Should I continue... I think not. I am done with you because I know you can go for eternity with constant rambling.

You are a trolling liar. I've said Travis Leslie has the skillset of Josh Smith... I've said Andrew Bogut and Jon Leuer might be had for Horford and would be better in the playoffs than Horford and Marvin/Jason Collins.
But You've lied a few too many times for me to keep thinking its a coincidence. Unlike you I actually
have proof of you being a liar.

You have...
Disturbutors- Andre Miller, Rondo, Felton, etc. What these players have is great bbiq, great decision making skills, and they are excellent passers.
Scoring PG: Rose, Arenas, Westbrook, etc. What these players have is an excellent knack to score. Generally are great scorers. They have good enough passing skills to play PG but not enough to create for others. Might have been SG previously.
Shooting PG: Bibby, Curry, Billups, etc. What these players have is an excellent knack of shooting. Generally are great shooters. They have good enough passing skills to play PG but not enough to create for others. Might have been SG previously.
Defensive PG: Hinrich, young Fisher, etc. These are PG who play very good or great defense. They have good enough passing skills to play PG but not enough to create for others. Might have been SG previously.
PnR PG: Paul, Deron, Rubio, etc: These are half court wizards. They generally have elite court vision, elite passing skills, high bbiq, and excellent decision making skills. In order to be elite, you must be able to shooting, abilty to slash as well as all the above. You must be impossible to be stopped using PnR.
Playmaker PG: Paul, Nash, Deron, Rose, etc: This is a player who makes has team better by his passing or his scoring. Rose makes his team better by his scoring. He can carry the load and put the team on his back. He will not make anyone better from an offensive standpoint but he can it easier for everyone in terms of responsibility. Paul and Deron makes it easier for everyone. Gives great passes, puts the player in a great position to score if the player is attentive and can carry a team. Not as talented as Rose in terms of scoring but can help others score.
Hinrich: Defensive PG

Re: Josh Smith
Reminds me of Derrick Williams trying to market himself as a SF prior to the draft. I think Smith is on his way out in Atlanta, and he knows that there will be a bigger market for him if he shows that he can be effective as a SF. For not being able to shoot, he still managed to knock down 33% of his threes last season.
From last season
LeBron James - 33%
Luol Deng - 34%
Iguodala - 33%
Stephan Jackson - 33%
Smith is not an elite shooter by any means, but I think he can hold his own.

How is he forcing their hand? All they do is stick Marvin in and then rely on Josh and Al to pick up the slack.
Try not to get blown out against bad teams, accept losing to the Heat and Bulls in the regular season. You win 50 games, on talent alone, and everyone is excited come playoffs. The center position doesn't really matter until playoffs. So ASG and Sund plan, as always is to, tread water until then.
Also you might as well rename Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace 2.0 now thats his skillset and he's not someone who you want stationed behind the arc on offense. Come playoffs a coach, say Tom Thibodeau will live with the results.
Perimeter players
Dirk, Kidd, Terry
Rondo, Ray, Pierce
Joe, Jeff, Josh Smith
Does it really matter if ATL gets a center. If Josh Smith is your 3rd option on the perimeter then you better have a young Kobe Bryant as your 1st option taking a LOT of shots away from him. Everyone loves the idea of Josh defending 3s, but he's a tweener on OFF. He needs a stretch 4 or a stretch 5. Which Horford is not. Which Collins/Pachulia is not.
He's the Hawks 3rd best perimeter player. Inside the arc. 20+ ppg threat. Outside the arc? Not so much. Smith and the Hawks at large are being put in position to fail. Again.

Smith's shooting motion has changed over the years, I dont know what to expect from 3 point range.
Last year he shot 3s flat footed and he was hitting 3s against the bottomfeeder teams, see 34 points on Travis Outlaw. Against elite teams he could not elevate on his shot, see the playoffs, the flat footed shot was predictably contested and he could not hit a 3 for anything.
The hope would be his elevation on his shot makes it more accurate rather than hurting it. And in the unlikely event he is a 3pt threat this should help him beat his man off the dribble if they close out.
I like the idea of him staying inside like Gerald Wallace and getting a center and perimeter 4 via trade.

Josh on his mindset considering the trade speculation: “I’m here and I’m ready to play. I’m excited the lockout is over with and I’m ready to be a part of this ball club. I want to get things accomplished this year more than we ever have. I think we have the team to do it with a little bit more added pieces. I just want us to know we are able to play with any team on the court. We have to know it and believe it and we can do it at all times.”
Both L.D. and Smoove said the Hawks need a 3-point shooter. “We need a for real, for real knock-down shooter,” Josh said. “I’m not asking for Kyle Korver, but a guy who can just spread the floor and just knock the shot down.”
Josh on the reasoning behind slimming down to his rookie weight: “I played multiple positions last year. Playing the four for three years I had to play with a certain amount of weight to withstand that contact and playing those guys down low and matching their physicality. If I’m going to be a more versatile player this year and be more mobile and get around those screens, then I need to get back to the weight I was accustomed to playing with when I first got in league.”
=======
Josh Smith lobbying for the SF position and big man shooter. As opposed to Horford, who wants a big man and Josh Smith left to do the shooting?

Sounds like Smith has started lobbying for the team to be constructed around him. Go Josh! Save the Hawks! 2nd rounder for Leuer? I’d be OKAY with Leuer and Horford. Radmanovic is an embarrassing loser.

That's the way is always is with Josh Smith. One day, I'm pulling my hair out over him making some crazy play ... or loafing down the court ... or missing an assignment while crying to the refs ... or refusing to post up weaker/smaller players. The next day, he displays great inner fire - the kind of fire only a few have. I keep telling folks: the guy has the fire to be a superstar.
What's amazing is, after all this time, I still can't make up my mind whether he's a bonehead or the next great thing.
Superiorblogman is right, he IS forcing management's hand. A 220 lb. PF is out of the question. He's a SF -- at least MOST of the time.

My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Smith, who said he has lost about 30 points, looked noticeably thinner. He said he lost weight because he played both forward positions last season instead of only at power forward. He said center Al Horford wants to spend more time at power forward.

Drew said Josh’s slimmer build doesn’t mean he will play him at power forward less often: “With him losing the weight, I see that he’s got his quickness back that he had when he first got here. He looks a lot faster, a lot quicker, which is a good sign because that’s been a strength of his game is his athleticism.”

Josh Smith, “I’ve been here a long time. I’ve never lashed out at the organization. All I ask for sometimes is, when I raise my hand, maybe somebody can help me up, so I’m not always the person who’s trying to [defend me from criticism]. It would be nice if somebody else said, ‘This guy’s a pretty good player.’”

Re: Josh Smith supposedly loses 30 pounds Via MC Twitter
Many times the difference between good and bad shots is whether they end up inside the basket or not. With Josh, this is exactly the situation. He shoots alone many times, but he is unable to make them.
But many players gain accuracy over time and I believe Josh will be a better shooter this year.
About losing that much weight, obviously that is an indication that either he thinks he will play the 3 a lot more, or that he thought he would. In a "normal" situation, that change would be linked to a talk with the coach and a mutual decision. In the Hawks, with LD at the wheel, who knows?
