Kyle Irvings Value?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Dec 3, 2011 4:22 am

I drafted him VERY late in a couple of my leagues but am trying to unload him before the season. I realize people are going to be nervous and most likely won't take the bait, but he's suppose to start at the 2, and I just want to see what you think his value is.

Rookies typically take some time to develop a fantasy game. And Kyle definitely isn't set to start out of the gates. Plus, he's too small to play much at the 2. We'll wait and see how Cleveland's roster shapes up; but, to start the season, I bet they focus more on winning than letting the young guys get run. I don't think Irving has much trade value... a decent end-of-the-bench guy for a gamble.

Short season this year, short season last year. I have a hard time seeing him contributing much.

Tough to answer in a vacuum. On a competitive team in a 10-team league? Nah. If it's a weak team in a roto league you could stash him for a day or a week or a month (until a better option comes along, basically). Maybe just wait to see if Davis gets amnestied. (Don't think so.)

Reports are saying he'll start the season opener along side Baron Davis.

I took him late as a gamble but with the intent to move him during the season if he contributes.

Yeah, but Austin Daye started out of the gates too.

Cleveland's backcourt is way too crowded for Irving to get 30+ mpg imo.

We have no idea how good he's going to be either. He played what, 9 games for Duke?

Sure, there's a chance he comes out averaging 35mpg, puts up 15/7/2, wins ROY and is a top 50 player but there's a much bigger chance he's a non-factor.

If he's playing off-the-ball at the 2 then do not want. If he's starting beside Baron I don't really see any cat that he's really going to make a big difference in. Probably solid 3s and steals but that's about it if he isn't playing PG. FT% will be good but he won't get there enough to help you.

With Davis getting amnestied, looks like Irving is the starter from day one, which has got to bump him up a couple rounds in drafts.

But only if Baron is amnestied which is a big if.

If these are 12 team leagues hold on to him. As soon as he has a big game start sending offers.

gotta LOVE irving if davis is amnestied. prob 2/3 chance he's top 50. like him a lot more in non-TO leagues than TO ones.

mike conley put up 14/6/3/ w/ 2 stls, 1 3pm and below average FT%/average FG%. irving can definitely do something similar.

Do you guys think the 7th round would be a good place for him? He's going in the 8th in most of my mocks. I want him with Baron gone now.
