Really looking forward to the game. Barnes vs. Kidd-Gilchrist; Henson vs. Davis; Teague vs. Marshall; you also have Terrence Jones and McAdoo. This game may very well provide a better assessment for evaluation purposes than a pre-draft workout. To me, Harrison Barnes has a lot at stake in this game out of all the prospects. I'm not sure he'll face another team this season with the kind of NBA talent on it as Kentucky. If he has a big game against Kidd-Gilchrist, Darius Miller, and Davis' help D, his stock rises once again - so far this season, I'd say he has yet to have that breakout game where he put everything together. But, he did show glimpses vs. Wisconsin. So, we'll see what comes out of tomorrow's game.

It really is a huge game for Barnes.

I don't expect him to actually step BUT if he put on 30pt game he would have the attention of the nation as a big game player. If he does anything like that then he has my attention again that's for sure.

Not just about the draft stock related issue but also a payback time cos apparently there was a rivalry that Barnes had with Kidd Gilchrist.

I found this from nbadraft.com, this says it all.

North Carolina and Kentucky, given their status in the hierarchy of college basketball, have historically mixed it up for players. However, there's not as much overlap as you might think on their current rosters. One of the last occasions they tangled was with Davis. Just when the Heels began to make headway in July 2010, UK closed the door and locked down the top prospect.

However, there is a rivalry between the Heels' best player, Barnes, and UK's most heralded freshman, Kidd-Gilchrist. Plus, former Wildcats star John Wall thinks that specific battle will be important to the outcome.

"The key is going to be the 3 position," Wall said. "I think it's going to come down to Gilchrist and Barnes; that's the matchup."

We have already seen this play out before.

In June 2009, this matchup was the one everyone was clamoring for and it first took place at the NBAPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va. Barnes came to camp as the nation's top senior and Kidd-Gilchrist (then known as Michael Gilchrist) carried the same hype as the top underclassman in America.

Kidd-Gilchrist went at Barnes and it was written that he won a first-half battle. However, he would later turn an ankle converting his fourth "and-one" bucket of the contest. Before doing so, Barnes had made headway in the matchup and had a chance to put Kidd-Gilchrist's team away in overtime, but his jumper didn't go down. Kidd-Gilchrist's team won and he finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and a variety of blocks. Barnes had 14 in the loss.

Three days after camp ended, Barnes was still smarting from the loss to Kidd-Gilchrist and the reality that the junior had gotten the better of him. My phone rang. It was Barnes. "The next time I see him I'll know his tendencies," Barnes said. "That won't happen again."

Barnes is like an elephant -- he hasn't forgotten that matchup. Rest assured he's given it plenty of thought and looked back on one of the greatest matchups in the history of the NBAPA Top 100 Camp. At the camp, Kidd-Gilchrist's team would go on to defeat Jared Sullinger's squad in a championship game that featured half a dozen McDonald's All-Americans. The point guard on Kidd-Gilchrist's team at that camp? It was none other than Kendall Marshall.-ESPN

I like the smart/slow vs. fast/dumb matchup at PG. Shoud be lots of plays at the rim.

Let's see if Barnes plays better than he did against Kentucky in March Madness.

That's a big leap imo. Yes, I love Davis' BBIQ and feel for the game, and love his defensive potential, but he has not shown that he can be an elite scorer at his position by any means, something that those two #1 picks definitely had over him heading into the NBA.

He also hasn't had to score. His team is stacked and pretty selfish. I would easily put him in Rose-Griffin turf.

Biggest game of the year lol. Here's hoping Kidd-Gilchrist has a good game because last game against St. John's he was garbage. As long as he can contain Barnes, rebound and make open shots I'm sold on him.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Too early to put Davis in the Rose/Griffin category but if he keeps his play up through the season and the Wildcats continue to win then it's definitely up for discussion.

UK with the early lead.

And did anyone notice Terrence Jones' last boxscore? 26 points, 1 three, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 blocks. DAMN!
