Cavs didint do their homework on Valanciunas

Word on the street is that Valanciunas might be comming over to the NBA this season .
Did the Cavs make a bad pick after all....

If they didn't take him because they thought he wouldn't play this season then they made a bad pick whether he plays or not. I hope they liked TT more, or it was an extremely short sighted and quite fankly idiotic decision.

I am sure the Cavs selected TT over Jonas because they saw him as a better and a more proven prospect. Now whether or not the Cavs made a bad pick, we do not know. Lets see how these players perform first.

BTW, this topic can easily attract Raps fans and quickly turn into a flame war. If this happens, warnings will be handed out and this topic will be done.

to be fair, Jonas is/was probably more inclined to play in TOR rather than CLE, which could've resulted in him being willing to come over immediately with the Raptors vs. next year with the Cavs. still shouldn't have been a factor in his selection tho.

Everything I have read about the Cavs makes me think that TT was either second or third on their draft board, and that Jonas was either 3rd or 4th.

I am not sure why Toronto fans have to come over to the CAVs board to talk about Valanciunas and why some CAVs fans are still slobbering over him. Draft express has Valanciunas not coming over for this season. Valanciunas is not a sure fire star in the NBA. Toronto's Linas Kleiza is a good example of a stud in European basketball not translating into a stud in the NBA.

I will wait to see how Jonas plays against NBA competition and compare that to TT in about 2 to 3 years to tell who did better. TT has known Irving since their High Schools days.

I also remember another you center that the Raps drafted and acted like he was an alltime great Rafael Aruajo. How did that turn out?

I hope this isn't considered trolling, but i'd just like to say, that no Raptors fan, has ever, ever used the words "Rafael Araujo" and "great" in the same sentence, without following that with "big waste of a lottery pick."

We could have had Iggy.

Most people spend 4 years in high school. From the looks of it, I am guessing you were on the 5 year plan, which makes your comment even more odd.

It seems like the Cavs wanted TT quite a bit, plus they didn't want to have to deal with all the "is he coming" Euro drama.

Our general manager said that 'We had Thompson ranked significantly higher than #4 on our boards'. It makes me wonder if he was our top ranked player in the draft, only we knew he was going to be on the board at 4 so we took Irving first.
