Lakers will start season with a back to back to back

Post#1 » by dockingsched » Mon Dec 5, 2011 8:07 pm

Reports so far:

Dec 25th vs CHI
Dec 26th @ SAC
Dec 27th vs UTAH
Dec 29th vs NYK
Dec 31st vs ???
Jan 1st @ DEN

http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakersblo ... games.html

he Lakers won’t wait long for a dreaded back-to-back-to-back situation.

They are scheduled to play three games over the first three days of the season: Dec. 25 at home against Chicago, Dec. 26 at Sacramento and Dec. 27 at home against Utah.

Ho-ho-ho?

The NBA schedule has not been publicly released, but details have been obtained by The Times, including the Lakers’ frantic start.

Teams haven’t played three games in three nights since the last lockout-shortened season in 1999, but every team has at least one sequence in the upcoming 66-game season. Some teams will have two or three sets of terrible threes.

The Lakers have no other sets of back-to-back-to-backs as of now, though there might still be changes to the schedule, which will be finalized and released Tuesday by the NBA.

Adding to the Lakers’ early challenge: Andrew Bynum will serve a five-game suspension for body-slamming Dallas guard J.J. Barea in last season’s playoffs.

Christmas isn’t the only holiday on which the Lakers play. They are scheduled to travel to Denver on Jan. 1 and also play the afternoon of Dec. 31 against an unknown opponent.

The Lakers will not visit every NBA city because they play only 18 games against Eastern Conference teams this season. They will not play at Chicago, New Jersey, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Atlanta and one other team.

The Lakers travel to Boston, Miami and Orlando but don’t play the Magic at Staples Center.

They face every West team three or four times.

The Lakers have two exhibition games against the Clippers, Dec. 19 and Dec. 21.

lets get that back to back to back out of the way i suppose

Damn that's brutal. Big minutes for Gasol and Odom coming up.

As excited as I am for basketball games in general is anyone else just kind of waiting for the playoffs?

I'd have hoped we'd get Bynum back before the back to backs start kicking in. Unless we sign a good front court back up the first few games will be pretty tough.

Hell no. I need games, I want the season!

I don't like this back to back to back crap to start off. We could have a slow start and the faster games hit us at the start, the more we lose.

And I really, really hate that every team won't play home and away vs every other team. It's horrible. Instead of playing some division rivals 4 times, they should have made it so everyone plays each team at least twice, and then some 3 times.

I think that's got to be our top priority is a good backup big. No way can we afford to have exhaust Pau and Lamar in the regular season like we did last year.

Exactly how I feel. With the team's core being fairly old the earlier we get the B2B2B out of the way the better, only downside is Drew is suspended for the first 5 games so Pau/Lamar may be gassed by that third game.

Oh well we just have to deal with it. This was common in the 70's.
