Read Santos' wiki page and I must say this is at least an interesting story.

Pretty high end prospect to give up for a closer. Not impressed. But at least he's not beyond prime or overpaid.

The numbers of Nestor Molina, the pitcher acquired by CWS today in Santos deal, are other-wordly: 16 walks/148 Ks in 130.1 IP in Class A/AA

Isn't Nestor Molina one of our best pitching prospects?
and didn't we already have Sergio Santos?

I might feel foolish saying this in a few days, but...

This deal indicates to me the depths of Rogers' cheapness. We'd rather bleed a high-end prospect for a so-so closer rather than signing one outright and perhaps overpaying by a few dollars? When our payroll is nothing as it is?

I wasn't in favour of throwing big bucks at a closer, mind you, but if the alternative was giving up Molina...

Wow, well I guess we've got our closer.

Awful deal by AA, is the fairytale over now? Giving up Nestor Molina instead of spending a little money on a closer is sickening. I'm dumbfounded, and disgusted.

Santos isn't bad or anything; he's a fireballing reliever signed to a very reasonable deal with three options. But that's a high price to pay for any reliever...Molina could be a very good starter in the bigs, and quite soon.

Odd sidebar: it's a trade of two pitchers who were only stuck on the mound after failing as position players. We acquired Santos, then a no-hit infielder, in the Glaus deal...the White Sox later turned him into a reliever after we released him. Molina only began pitching at 19.

Fair deal one I would not have made but I can see the logic. His #'s are all trending upwards and he is signed to an insanely team friendly deal. Ill call it fair for now.
