ESPN hinting at Beasley trade coming...
ESPN Insider article about 'Teams to Watch' mentions the Wolves. And I know it's ambiguous, but the article says that a source close to the team says that we will deal Beasley, and mentions his marijuana arrest this summer in the same breath.
Who do you think we could target if this ends up being true?
(I didn't post a link, or quote, because I can't really the rules on posting content from another article. If need be, I can do so. Just let me know.)

Re: ESPN hinting at Beasley trade coming...
I do hope we don't trade him because we can only lose in such a trade.
We'll get back next to nothing. At best we get a low 1st rounder and an expiring for him. That's something we don't need at this point.
Hopefully, we at least keep him to see what he's capable off under Adelman.
There is no upside in trading Beasley. We might as well stick with him until the end of the year and then evaluate if he deserves an extension or not.

I personally hope we don't trade him. But then again, they don't give a damn what I think.

Perfect, we are going to defend with five like the other teams.

Despite his character questions, he's talented enough to bring a steady veteran in a trade.

Before his injuries, Beasley was putting up numbers better than Danny Granger. I expect that he will keep his nose clean under Adelman, and his value will rise. I think we could get something better than a "steady veteran" at the trade deadline, when the hectic schedule starts creating injuries in teams that want to win now.

Re: ESPN hinting at Beasley trade coming...
Yeah, I'm on the fence about a Beasley trade. His value is definitely at it's lowest following the arrest. But he apparently got in better shape this year, and I'd like to see him play before shipping him out.
However, his D was atrocious last year (saw it every game as a season ticket holder), and I have a feeling that Adelman won't stand for that, and could give him a quicker hook because of it that Rambis did. Knowing Beasley can be a bit temperamental, this could create a toxic situation that would create a 'need to trade him' scenario that would only drive his value lower. Or the flipside... maybe a 'no D, no play' approach would be a motivator for him on the defensive end...

There's at least 4 guys on the roster that are worse/just as bad defenders as Beasley.

Trading him now would be a mistake I think. At least wait until the trade deadline to see if he fits, this may also increase his value if he performs well in the beginning of the season. I'd rather not see him leave before seeing what Derrick Williams has to offer.

I'm all for trading him...yeah he's slimmed down this offseason to be more of a SF...but I would just like to move him for some sort of SG or C. I do like Beasley, but all his injuries really frustrated me, and I just can't see him becoming much better then he is now.

Re: ESPN hinting at Beasley trade coming...
Although I don't want to see him dealt now, I might be intrigued by something like...
Beasley
for
Raja Bell (been interest in the past, defensive 3 off the bench).
Protection on 2012 Utah #1 from lotto protected to maybe top 2 or 3 protected.
Unsure if Utah would do that, but having a hard time coming up with any other deals, this is as close as I can get to something realistic I think...

Adelman played Kevin Martin for 32.5 mpg last season. I think he would do so with Beasley, too, if:
Beasley gives a little more effort on D and draws more fouls on offense. 4 FTA per 17 FGA is horrible.
These are really the most important holes in his game.

Worse might be overstating but Love, Ellington, Ridnour and Pekovic were all horrible last year.
Pekovic because of all the silly ticky-tacky fouls and rule violations he picked up (that cost us a lot of points) and the rest because they didn't put in enough effort.
The worst defender I've seen in my life was Jonny Flynn last season, though. So glad he's gone.

Re: ESPN hinting at Beasley trade coming...
I just posted about this in the Free Agency thread where the rumor was first posted, but I'll add a little here.
There are too many unknowns right now. They just went and got Adelman and player development coach Bill Bayno. It is unknown how Beas will progress with Bayno or how he will fit into Adleman's system. This is especially relevant to complaints about Beasley's defense and ball movement. Rambis was also really bad at these things. We don't know right now how much of Beasley's problems here were his own and how many were a result of poor coaching in these areas. We also don't know that Derrick Williams is going to be Beasley-but-better, more focused, disciplined and smarter. Williams is a rookie. He might be all that, but he might struggle mightily.
Any one of these things might be enough to keep Beasley here, but all of them together almost certainly are.

They aren't good defenders but at least they try it. Beasley always runs away or he turns back due the fouls. I don't care if he likes marijuana, but I never seen a player running away or turn back when he must defend.

Unless we get back a decent center or a good shooting guard, it's a definite no for me. I would rather trade Williams than Beasley, because at least we know what we'll be getting. People like to forget that the guy is only 22 and will learn as he grows.

I don't forget he's 22, he's just not that smart. It's hard for me to get behind him when he made a lot of boneheaded plays over his career...eventually you have to cut ties and just face facts that he is what he is. Now I could be and hope I'm wrong if we keep him...maybe the turnovers last year came as a move to SF full time and being the only guy to break down the D.
