They're banking on the new stadium providing much higher attendance numbers, however in 2003 (when they last won world series) they only drew 1,303,214 people good for 28th in the league and at most had 1,852,608 in a season in 2005. I think if they sign Pujols they'll easily get over 2,000,000 this season but the odds of that sustaining are doubtful. They are really hoping that by spending this money that will get people in seats for the next 10 years, but I could see this going terrible fast.
I hope they aren't banking on merchandise sales, those new uniforms are heinous.
